Cant get the staff

I don't know if it's just my clan having trouble recruiting or not, but it seems like there is a real lack of players coming into the community that want to play in clans?

It's pretty bad considering that's why the game is really here, I think it's mainly down to people seeing it as more of a Q3/UT type effort.

Has anybody else found this?

Actually I think the ratio of players to clans is much better in T2 than in Q3 or UT. Its just Tribes 2 has not been anywhere near as sucessful in Europe as it should have been so there its harder to recruite fue to the fact that there is not enough players too choose from and many are already in a clan of some sort.

In Iceland we have like 10-20 active players, its really bad. People just play CS and dont want to try anything else :(

The demo has been released (beta) and hopefully things will pick up from that.

yeah, I just noted the beta demo news. If the full demo comes out soon that could really bump up the numbers in europe, which would be nice!! :)

i bet it only seems like theres less players coz a clan needs so many more compared to all other fps games to make it worthwile

this just means all those clanleader wannabes will eventually realise they need to merge to make a decent outfit for competitve play

too many clans with 5-10 members atm = useless

That's FTD's problem atm, we have 12 but we want a sqaud of 30, pretty tough for a UK/Euro clan, especially as we want active ppl.

PS. If there is anybody reading this after a clan then mail me (antipop@beerbelly.co.uk)

Lol kinda seen this coming. Fact is there's just too many different games/mods being played these days. I know there's more people playing these days, but in general most players born into the online world these days just ain't intrested in the comitment of 3-4-5 days a week playing for a clan, more just play the game for a laugh. Back in the day, quake, quake 2 era most people were hardcore, and wouldn't have a problem giving up there life to play for a clan. But in this day and age that just ain't so, too many different games, not enough commited players to go around.
Few years ago i myself played 4-5 nights a week, either in practice, or in matches. There's no way i would commit to such an undertaking now, i enjoy playing nearly every game not just 1 everynight of the week:p

Yeah but thats still non too many, when you talk about euro wide. Maybe it's the amount of player numbers that has to be involved in tribes. Back in the day all you needed were 5-6 people at the very least, and if 1 or 2 didn't show, it was easy to just grab one of your m8's that in the past had played for the clan at one time or another. Still i do think there's too many games being played these days for the ammount of people that would actually take clan games seriously, and thats why games suffer. Imho tribes 2 was allways gona be the first victim, people will carry on playing the likes of CS/TFC to there new versions come out, prolly on the TF2 engi. Im afraid it's rip T2 imho, it's gona become stale, with little change in the game, you just have to look at what the 'flashpoint' team intend on doing, introducing new weps/vehicles a'la CS style. Unless T2 does something along that line, i don't see it catching on to the mass apeal. It's had it hayday in it's launch and it's best chance of making it with it's hyped build up, but dynamics released poor game, and put many off for a start with soo many bugs people either sent the game back, or just couldn't be botherd with it. In all i just don't see the games player base being any bigger than it allready is, if anything it's gona decrease soon as the next big thing comes out, which tribes 2 was supposed to be.

I agree tribes will never be as popular as cs or similar games, it’s a complicated game that takes a while to learn and organising a team with complex tactics takes even longer.

but as a team game tribes 1 or 2 (witch ever u prefer)is completely unmatched by anything. I played t1 for 2 years simply because nothing better came along till t2.

Tribes will never die, the problems you're talking of are to do with it being behind CS/UT/Q3A in europe. In the US Tribes is much bigger.

I'm not too worried about it passing away just yet, the demo will be out soon and I'm sure that will push people into the community.

As for T2 being initially buggy, I'm a player that joined post T2 and never played T1 and to be honest T2 was ok when it launched. The few bugs I did find didn't do anything to bother me, so I don't think that's been a problem.

Aye tis true tribes 2 will never die:) No game ever does, than god.
But true teamplay is what you make it yourself, tribes 2 gives you a good opertunity to do that, but going back to the likes of quake, it's all the same with a commited group of people. Just with tribes you need the commitment from at least 15 people, on a match night. From past experience thats not so easy, you either end up with unrealible kids, or older folks like me:eek: with there life full of commitments. it was a game and a half for us to get 4 some nights, even though we big in the scene at the time. I can only dread how hard it is getting 15 people to turn up at once;)

I think there are a lot of clanned players, when i go on a server at least 40-50% have some sort of tag, that is pretty good compared to UT and the likes.

-[HAI]- have a lot of members now :)

Aye, but using your clan tag on a dm server is lame anyway.

Not sure how you tribers do it though. lol

Yeah AntiPop, there is a shortage of players in and around the UK who want to be clanned. It has taken me over a solid month of recruitment (mail, tmail, forums, irc chats etc) to get a team of around 26 members, of which around 20 are active.

I did a little exercise, and created a default "would you like to join OAP" type mail, and punted it off to over 30 UK based players on the recruitment list. Out of all 30 mails, I recieved 1 reply from a guy who's main interest was (and probably always will be) CounterStrike.

Still, like peeps have already said, the demo is out soon and will no doubt bring in a good many players over the next few months which should help things along nicely.

I sincerely hope so, for the sake of the Tribes who are struggling at the moment with 10 members, 5 of whom can make a match at any one time which is úber-pantage.

In OAP, I make it a requirement that all members *must* use Quakenet IRC and join a mail-list through which we can all communicate. Web-based forums have also proved to be invaluable.

Roll on the new players that come in from the Demo ..
