Can't get into daoc /cry

Every time I install daoc and update it it crashes while updating at sounds.dat or gorgon_calmface.something ~ So I can't get into daoc ;< Anyone else had this problem? Reinstalled it several times, formatted pc and reinstalled etc but nothing works :< Haven't been able to get into daoc for like a week now /cry

I had a similar problem like that once. I copied the stubborn file from an already installed PC to get it working. I doubt it was the same file though.

If you truly have "formatted" your drive and started with a clean PC, the only thing that didn't change was your installation CD. Maybe try with someone else's CD.

And about the NF update: I had to re-try several times to get the full update.

If nothing of this applies to your problem, best thing you can do is to contact Rightnow support.

Ask your question to the DaoC support team. Be sure to answer their follow-up questions quickly because they will assume the problem was solved and close the case if you don't respond to their e-mail asap.

Have you tried to delete the files that cause it to crash? To get a new version from the update. The gorgon file is just a small texturefile, but sounds.dat, well you have 167 of them to pic from

Could try download the full client from the goa site also.. will take few hours tho

Had that to t_T just updated my network card drivers and problem solved.

Had something similar, error occurred everytime I zoned inside the New Frontiers. Deleted the /frontier directory from the main DAoC directory. Then installed frontiers_toa.exe again, patched up with full file scan. That fixed it.

not sure, but I'd try deleting these mentioned files, and do a complete file-check.
would be interesting test too to install a SI client, SI + NF, ToA, ToA + NF..

Deleted files etc, tried everything really :x Tried dl'ing full client off site didn't make a diff... :<

Check for a m8 who has the full thing installed and updated and copy his version over your one. Btw: check for hard disk errors, and file system errors.

Only person I know irl playing daoc quit, and that hd of mine SHOULD work fine or some salesman is gonna die soon as I've only had the bloody thing for a couple of months :<

1st: I think a cheap DVD disc costs 1 Euro, sending it your way can cost any a variable amount of money depending on where do you live, but it isn't too much, and you can help the people who sent you the disc in game, etc.

I really doubt its the cd's tho, as I've had problems with both si and toa, and neither my si or toa discs are damaged.

I know what to do, take the cd out of the tray, take it into the back garden, cover with liberal amounts of petrol and light it when flames have died down piss all over the remains of the cd and go for a pint, when you come back, go to bed and have a nice long lie in, then in the morning buy WoW or EQ2 cos you know it makes sense
