Can't get DAOC to open after d/ling new patch and installing SI

REALLY pissed off - it worked fine yesterday, all I've done today is get new patch and install SI and now it won't let me open the game. I get the CD-key window, then when the little black DAOC logo screen appears ( the one you click on to get server select screen ) it immediately disappears and I can't do anything.

HELP!

OK, I've tried every possible combination of installing/uninstalling, patching, and so on...nothing. EVERY TIME I try to open the game, same thing, logo screen just disappears the instant it appears, and I can't play DAOC at all.

I tried installing it on my E drive, same thing; tried reinstalling the version of DirectX on the Camelot CD, same thing.

Emailed GOA who, of course, haven't responded.

Someone please read this and help!

this isn't uncommon problem
on what kind of machine are you running it?
CPU, Videocard, Motherboard. that sort of stuff

OK, system is:

Athlon XP2200+
512MB of Crucial DDR RAM
Xstasy GF4Ti4600
latest Detonator drivers, 41.09 or something

...thing is, this system ran DAOC fine, it's something in the latest patch or maybe SI that's started this.

Update: just installed latest mobo drivers (VIA 4.45), no change. Utterly stumped again.

I'm stumped too - your spec should run the game without any problem. What version of Windows are you using? Does the classic DAoC client still run? How about other games?

I'm running W98SE, and everything else runs fine as always...what's stumping me is that I played for like 6 hours on Tuesday night, everything cool and froody, and without changing anything, it started doing this on Wednesday evening after grabbing that patch. Now I think about it, it did it (the disappearing screen thing) after I grabbed the patch, and before I installed SI.

And of course, fucking GOA STILL haven't responded to my emails.

I have ZoneAlarm, but I switch it off when running DAOC 'cos I know it's picky about firewalls and stuff.
