It's not possible! It's a consipiricy... I'm trying to relax by scaring the neighbours while playing some slayer riff's (badly) on my electric guitar (hate slayer, but that's a diff story) when, after turning the gain on the amp upto full I suddenly realise I'm somehow scarily picking up some German radio station going on about Saddam Hussein, if I flick back to the clean channel it mysteriously disapears. I've heard of this stuff happening before just never had it happen to me so can anyone tell me how the hell that's possible? It's not like it has an arial or anything... :eek6: Some of you seemed pretty upto scratch on the whole audio equipment so I guessed you might have some idea of what the hell is going on :p

Some component of your amplifier is oscillating at a similar frequency to the German station (maybe LW), and the resulting decoded signal is being amplified in the chain.

Most likely its caused by poor screening in the amplifier, or just poor design.

probably right, it's a Marshall MG-80R which is a fairly cheapass amp... very interesting though, I just found it odd that something that's not designed to pick up radio can pick up a foreign signal :)

An Electromagnetic system can pick up radio signals...

You can make your own cheap radio with a plastic tube and lots of copper wire and a few batteries a speaker and a few other little bits and pieces

Wont be a good radio but it will pick up radio frequencies

Or you could buy a radio for, like, a pound!!

It's irritating though... my playing sounds bad enough without some German yammering away in the background... If I lay down some industrial metal riff's the neighbours will think they've got frickin' Rammstein playing a live set next door.... well maybe if I set alight to the curtains. :p

Nothing strange about it all. In the old days of metal fillings, some people claimed they could pick up radio in their head
