i believe it can be done.
But i cant do it, I think you have to get a supermod to do it.
But does your post count acctually matter?
Is it going to be worth the hasle of trying to get your name changed.
If I were you I would just forget about post count.

It can be done, I'm sure. Quite a few people have done it. Sickofit... to Uncle Sick. "Klavyrnd in disguise" to Klavyrnd. Camazotz to Xane (though thats only fleeting, he'll realise his new name is crap soon enough and go back to old trusty...) I think its all tied in with this migration thing, and then, erm.. You, erm...

Yep it's easily done in your profile options, I changed from Cornell to this.. and will probably transmogrify into something a tad more sensible sometime in the near future, it just requires a little investigative work into your options really, nothing too complex.
