ok am a newbie and i know
downloaded ra3 joined a server and within a minute there was a vote to kick me ??? that failed and again there was a vote to kick me is this normal? otherwise well am angry but then well can avoide it and just go back to me old games

Maybe they thought u was crap ? No offence ive not played ra3 a lot but i played a bit of ra2, and it was a bit like that.

Isn't RA3 1v1 only? OSP Clan Arena is just like Pickup RA2, so i play that.

Nope. RA3 can be anything from 1v1 to 8v8, suited to the particular arena being played.

And yes, it is unusual to be kicked upon joining unless:

1) You act like a dick.
2) They're acting like dicks and want the server to themselves.

#bwadmins should have someone in most times

CPMRA (or CPMA RA3) is much the same thing, except faster and more skillful

It doesn't apply to EVERY ra3 player, but from my experience the ra3 seen is immature and populated much moreso than ctf, etc, by children. I can't play long in ra3 these days cos it's not a very enjoyable experience. My advice is to play ctf, the real q3

What reasons did they give to kick or you did they not give any ?

Quite often ive noticed on servers if your not playing, or just spectating people will callvote to kick you to free up the slots for people who will play.

Two main reasons for that I think.

Firstly, the skill level of players on public RA3 servers is abysmally poor as it seems to be 95% populated by CaSual players.

Secondly people have time to mouth off in between rounds as RA3 is so slow now and it takes ages (upwards of 5 mins at times) to finish off a single round.

So if you combine points one and two, you have a lot of frustrated shit players sitting around with sweet FA to do until the next round. Hence the acting like dicks.

I stay away from public RA3 nowadays (and RA3 as a mod in general) and stick, as I mentioned earlier, to CPMRA, which is:

1) A lot faster
2) More skillful
3) Requires more set up to get a decent config, thereby being played by more committed players
4) More enjoyable
5) Less populated by dicks, as it seems to attract the better and therefore generally more mature & experienced players.

Nah they appear to be 1.31 now at last.

I don't believe that they actually still have Q3 demo servers running!

Hehe, I can understand q3demo servers still being used, mainly for people say at work playing who dont want to bring in multiple copies.

It is weird to see so many populated servers at different PRs tho. Still people playing 1.11, 1.29, 1.30. Tis a great shame they all dont move on with the times and play on 1.31 as they'll suddenly find a whole lot of servers out there for them.

Aha! That never occurred to me.

/me has an idea to d/l the demo again, pop onto the demo servers and shout "Boss: GET BACK TO WORK YOU SCURVY LAZY DOGS!!" at the lot of them
