What the subject says, if you're in the old BW forums, you can use the basic dropdown search box.

You cannot advanced search it though.

I'd really love that to be available, I'm sure others would too. It'd be ace to look at some of my old posts etc, only finding them is nightmarishly hard as they're not "our" posts here....

At the moment all I can feel is a cyst bleeding through my skin, so feeling old would be a welcome distraction. :)

It's available to select, but when I search for all posts by me (Wazzerphuk) I get no results, same for threads started by me.

Searching by keyword appears to work, *uNF* brought back over 500 results :D

Surely the search by user would not work, as they are not actually stored in the database as users?

It came up on the autocomplete thing ok.

that is showing the users of FH, not the old BW users. Try it, it shows new users and users with the old. prefix, which only started on here.

I'm no VB expert, but it makes sense to me.

But I only want to search by username, it's not like I can remember thread content over 7 years old :D

The problem is that the users do not exist in the database from that time period so you cannot search by username. Sorry.

How much can you alter? I don't know how much you can tweak the forums, but would it be possible to change the search not to look for a database entry but the text on the page instead? Just a thought.

No chance! Not until I have to! So basically, only if Deus Ex 3/id games go Steam only, which won't happen. :D

If this change could be implemented it should probably only function on the old forums and not in the normal forums, normal alive forum user search should search the db.
