"• comment on the ethics of using this energy source, (in your own view). "

what exactly is meant by the ethics of using something?

Well in my superior political mumbojumbo knowledge, it means the common ethic(moral, what is good and what is not) and how using something would effect it.

It's like saying "It would go against ethics(meaning common ethics, believed by most people) to use this dildo as a blender."

if thats the case it seems rather a stupid point.

is it moral to use biodiesel as a fuel?

surely the answer will always simply be yes? imo anyway.

am i on the right track?

That's how i understood it.

The answer is simple to me and you.

But then there's the "what is this -bio- in biofuel".

If it's dead people/cats/things, bio engineered stuff that "might" have a soul, then we come to the general ethic thing.

Stupid point indeed in my mind too, but much like all politician speaches, it's normal.

you can make it your self with used vegetable oil.

in the process you also get the indredient to make soap!

who could possibly be against this?

Well, you could elaborate on your "yes", explain why it is ethical. Some points:

- Moral principle: 'beneficere': doing good
I suppose biofuel pollutes less than normal fuel. If not, put the polution thing under the next category :).
- Moral prinicple: 'non malelficere': doing no harm
Any effects on long term use which should be tested before using it on large scale?
- Moral prinicple: egality
Is it cheaper/more expensive than normal fuel? If it's cheaper, it will be available to more people, which means that it promotes egality.
- Moral principle: freedom of choice
If people have moral objections against biofuel, they're not forced to use it. The people who do want to use it cause no direct harm to the first group of people, so there is no reason to limit their freedom of choice.

Well, that's all I can think of right now.
