Camlann for a newcomer . . .

Hi all,

I’ve been thinking about giving Camlann a try. I last tried PvP when Mordred was launched in the US but 3,500 people on the server made for a mad and ultimately frustrating gankfest. Seeing that the population has settled down I was wondering whether things have changed as in can a new PvP player who doesn’t know anyone actually get going or would it ultimately be a matter of ever decreasing constitution ?

Also I was wondering if buffbots are as prevalent as on the regular servers?

buff bots are hard to hide as ppl find them all teh time. also if you can /20 you will get puit off cause ppl will attack you. your a lvl 20 with no armour or quick bar setup so you will have a few problems early on, you cant get the /20 armour which helps but if you try then please give it a few days cause ppl do get put off early when they have not scratched the surface.

if you like combat then you will love the server

Make a "skilled" stealther and add on casters only when they try to kill someone else! DON'T try to kill them if they are not fighting. Make the best of the reputation that spanish people and stealthers in general have. uke:

If you are prepared to put in some time on the class and accept that ppl will kill you on sight simply to get 50s that you will drop at lvl 20 you will be ok.

Grouping is fun on pvp but you will have problems if you don't pick a class that can't look after itself solo.

As you level it will get easier until you hit mid 30's it just takes a little time to get used to the /level zerg that usually hang around the major pk zones.

It's very rewarding when you are able to get a few rewarded kills as you level fast but finding the rewarded is kinda hard

Roll a ranger, grab some arrows, bow, wait until a purple pulls plated (he'll be around level 27) then fire some arrows in his ass while hes attacking it.

Been thinking a bit more about characters and the shortlist is currrently Friar, Skald, Minstrel or Sorceror although the more I think the longer the list gets although I'm thinking any of these 4 should be ok solo but also bring some useful abilities to any group

I notice allot of people have levelled Necromancers, I take it that's to help with the distanct lack of starting cash / items?

I knew I recognised the name been meaning to pop on excal and see how the gang is doing.

All the classes you mention are good Skald and Mincers are good since the insta mezz/stun gets you out of un winable fights nice and easy. Mages are good for taking down higher levels especially with some cc, my preference was for a dark spec sm . Friars are just uber provided you got some decent gear (built in buffbot always helps ).

You're right about the necros most are pve toons only, mine certainly is, mainly for farming and pl useful for kitting out alts with the drops or buying bits with the cash.

skald is good at lower levels, minstrel is better at 50 due to ablative and various other advantages like stun, pet, aoe mez, safefall etc..

nightshade > all other stealthers imo, luwikeen!!

for caster, you will have to choose something with an cc that are not root, preferable stun, so u can escaped stealthers and other enemies, lifetapping casters is cool, not bonedancers tho!


dont leave the server before you have played for atleast a week or so, you will get easily frustrated in the first days due to having nothing. But just stay away from capitals if you dont like the gankfest

Friar is a nice solo and group class. No real range attack is a bit of let down but you can happily chain yellows in pve if you need some cash/gear/xp etc.

Between Mincer/Skald? Well Skald has less utility so there's less buttons to press and mincer is (imho at least) a class that takes more skill to play but has greater group usage.

Sorc is not a bad class in PvP. Not bad solo (tho you're stealther fodder tbh without some good gear) and good enough in a group to make people invite you. If you wanna mezz people Healer is simply the best but you can't solo for shit tbh Still at least you get groups easy

Yeh I'm leaning towards a Troll Skald atm. Yes I know a smaller class might be better but there's just something about Trolls

take minstrel instead, might require alittle more "skill" to handle all the tools etc, but fod gods sake, stealth on camlann is worth everything!
and a mincer played good is better than skald at lvl 50

minstrels will do less damage, due to using a onehanded weapon and usually being specced lower in melee, but have better defence due to shield/ablative. i still prefer my skald, although a mincer is definately more versatile.

(and im 2-1 in duels versus zephy (even though he hits as hard 1h as i do 2h :wub: ))
