Know the description, just wonder how it performs in practice when doing encounters. Mids tend to bring valks/thanes on pve raids to make them easymode now, ala hibs and shrooms, albs and theurgs? It's worth a guild having some 40+ storm spammers lvled just for pve?

CoTS doesn't work aswell as shrooms/theurg pets imo, might just be me tho. You do however, seem to hit more often when CoTS is up, and a little hard. It works nicely for killing red/low purps tho

It seems to make a lot of difference, the more you have the less you miss, the harder you hit. We did 8.10 with 9 people, 2 thanes and 2 valks (OK, we also had 3 BBs), something I think would have been very difficult without this ability.

Still, we never did get our petspam class, I for one would have prefered one, but its game over for that idea now.

did this big snake thing in volcanus (not sure what arti it was for) with thane and warrior and a bot, my wee thane did barely any damage without it but with it did reasonable damage and hit much more often

Other question: does the effect only work if thane/valk melees a mob, or can for example aoe nuke a bunch of stacked purps and CoTS effects them all?

Its a melee buff afaik, so wont affect casting, it adds to the to-hit damage by adding a certain amount of invisible attackers. Its an effects thats only given when the caster of COTS is in mellee too.

It only works on the melee char casting the spell...its not a group or mob effect...

As to your original question, mael, its crap compared to shrooms. It has nothing in comparison with it...it works okay in a zerg when doing big raids etc, but for every animist you would need, you need 3-4 CoTS users.

In the end its easier and faster to use a summ or supp Spiritmaster 99.9% of the time...

The way you do most encounters easiest with a small number of people would be with ml9 summsm...(that as you know works as chanters only they cant be used for rvr)

work only lvl 55+ mobs, allso work in rvr against guards etc, lvl55+.

lower mobs lvl so you hit more often and harder.
you still need kill mob, there is nothing to work for you like theurg/anim have.
have feeling it helps allso land spells more often, not so much resists.

its time ability, not allways up.
luckily now its insta, before you stop melee and cast spell.

what remember its pbaeo buff, work around valk/Thane -> help hit all mobs around some smallish radius.

you dont want spear valk have agro against some epic mob, guard help thou.

maddening is easy, have done several time whit warrior + bott, even more whit summ sm but different class and abilitys.

cos is weak ability what is given to mids.
make epic mobs easier but you still need peeps to kill mob where theurg/animist can do same stuff whit 50% less peeps around.
offcourse CoS is very nice ability when you have been whitout ~4y
