Caledonia - Albs... I HATE YOU!

last night a group of hibs (about 15) went on a keep raid in caledonia and we had 4 tanks and no rams, and we took down both doors, it took us about 2,5 hours on each door! 5 hours in total to get down those fucking doors! and then most of us was to tired to continue (me myself felt asleep over the keyboard) so we decided to take the keep tomorrow (which is today) and now the albs too it! after all our damn work! all the albs had to do was to walk in and kill the lord, goddamn i hate you albs! fuck you albs!...(damn im pissed)...

no rams?? you are mad sir as daft as a brush..

and as for leaving a keep with gates open... that is just an invite to anyone passing to take the keep :)

and if you did have 15 hibs there that is 15 more people (not just hibs) than i have seen in Cale BG for about a week :)

with rams you would have been through the doors in minutes.

we know but non of us knew how rams work... :p when both doors was down its was 5am something and we tried to kill the lord but we were too tired to continue... i hate you albs and i always will :p

I think that's sweet. I remember the first time we (as in: our guild) brought rams to a keep take and had to try to figure out how to use them.

Good luck, Pepsay et al. It's all a learning experience!

Everybody can make one - no special skill required.
I built my first ram last night in Thidranki - hitting the doors for 750 damage :clap: needless to say they went down fast.

Then we fucked up killing the lord with guards spawn and defenders... still a fun night :)

12) HELPFUL HINT: Many times defenders are using PBAOE near the doors so its bad for your health as a Ram Operator to continue to stand there with your nose against the door. You can move back far enough from the door and STILL operate your ram! I sometimes stand like 10 feet back and use a ram.

We almost got the 2nd door, then mids backstabbed us.........
A Pbaoer behind the door killed both the operators and we didn't know that hint above. We are not disapointed, but we are really angry to you mids, you suck big time, you could even let someone rest from rezz before you kill him. Most undescent, most unfair..... I just hope you never get into that keep!

IMHO Everyone ought to know how to operate a ram and other siege equipment if they are going to get the most out of RvR in DAoC. Rams are certainly a good place to start, but it is also fun using trebuchets and stuff too, and they can be excellent for keep defenses as has been proven in the past.

I must say, I am chuckling at some of the posts here - it truly shows the BGs as a good training ground for people in RvR. Get used to the rez-sick kills and all of the other evil tactics that people can employ because all is fair and this is all you will get when you are out of the BGs and facing a relic or other keep raid/defense :)

Get a couple of rams, and have another go soon - I am sure you will succeed one day ;)

As this is a lower level battleground. Will lower level rams work as well as say an ironwood one in the big league? (relatively I mean. I know an ironwood will do more damage).

Was realy fun indeed!! We just walk in and killed the Mid phreak!!

Well if you dont want to get killed while rezz sick, move out of bow range.. Seen lots of newly rezzed, that sits just outside the keep doors, and thoose targets are so easy...

I built an oaken one in my first BG keep raid - it hit for 500+ damage. So Ironwood does more damage, but why bother using all that money in a BG - if you're not severly loaded with cash and seriously lack time and people...
Oaken rams will get you through the doors fast enough in allmost any situation in a BG :)

last night the ironwood ram we used did 750dmg a stroke, your right a oaken ram would have done the job, but we wanted a siege ram :) besides, ouch all those bleedin archers, thankgod twis is such a good healer as i was getting struck constnatly by them, but thankfully i was out of range of all those aoe's you seemed to be doing that looked like a sorcerer dot.

the biggest problem with bg raids though by far, is getting the parts, especially when we dont own our MK.

Damn useful sometimes. I remember tagging a poison on Shadeblade as he ran back up to your PK in Thrid. I couldn't see him anymore but it was very gratifying to see his last bit of health tick away :D

After that he must have gotten rather vindictive as he did a fine job of backstabbing and killing me later near the Alb bridge :eek:

Ironwood is making 750 dmg and it is not that expensive, it costs about 28-30 gold and if you share these betwenn 10-15 players it is just 2,5-3 gold not big deal. Making 250 more dmg in every hit means that it needs 50% less time than the oaken. I think it deserves the gold as there are 2 doors that have to be taken down and time is most precious thing in RvR. ;)

I made 3 attempts at Cear Caledon on Excal (2 of them successfull)

2 out of 3 times I used elm rams. hitting for 250-400
only the last time I used Ironwood (thanks to Octanion and the B&Q :) ) and although it takes a bit more patience. it still works fine...

Another point is that in many instances, you won't get many people contributing gold... Many are so fresh to the concept of RvR that they can't see the reason for it :(

There is little or no reason for using gold in battlegrounds, especially if you are short of it. What a complete waste of time! Save it for when you are in the real frontier!

It is a part of the game too m8. Insted of giving it to helaers verytime i exp die I can use it for the better succes of a raid, even in playgrounds :p. Also I agree with Hufner that we have to learn to share things while out there in the wild land.

With the recent patch I'm preeetty sure that even the best ram costs nomore than 15-20 gold.

Thats just typical.. PAH!!!, me and Cid organized the last keep raid to take back the Caledonia keep from the albs.. and soon as I lvl to 36 Caledonia livens up...

But you hibs should learn your lesson, the last time we took the keep back from the albs, the first doors only needed a tickle to drop em coz the hibs we killed had been bashing them for ages (just for us no doubt)

Farewall Caledonia, bring on the borders and all those purple con enemies that I wont be able to kill for ages!!!

why isnt there a bg for lvls 35-40????

Hmmm pointless post m8 - just make a stealther and go around killing em 1 by 1 :p
