Cable modem upgrades?

Recently read that NTL r Telewest r/were gunna increase d/l to 1mb at extra cost per month.

Just wondering on getting NTL CM - if i do and buy the modem would the modem handle the new speeds r would i need to upgrade/buy a new modem.

Wot is the maximum uploads and download speed that cm and adsl modems for that matter handle.... r am i being totally stupid (which is probably the case ) and should stfu

I don't reckon you'll need to change the modem, upload speeds would most probably stay the same even with more dl speed, 256k.

The cable modems can handle upto 33mb/s in either direction so no worries about that being changed.
Telewest are gonna offer 1mb d/l for £50 per month, allegedly, keeping the 512k service at £33 per month. I don't know about NTL though.
