Cable Modem and Home Network

Ok peeps, I need your advice.

I am setting up a home ethernet network on 2 PC's, and getting a cable modem plumbed in. I have been looking at my options, and the more I read, the more confused I get.

My options are: 10BaseT Hub for £25
100BaseT Hub for £40
Hardware Switch for £50
Hardware Router for £115

Money for any of these options isn't a problem, which one should I get?

You need to get the 4th....Hardware routers are by far the best solution for CM. I take it your looking at something like the Netgear rt314 router which is a combination router and switch.

I was looking at the Netgear RT311. What's the difference between it and the RT 314 (apart from £20)?

With the RT311 you have to connect it to a hub and then the hub to each comp but the RT314 has a built in 10/100 switch so you can connect the comps direct.
