Will having a second Blueyonder install adversly effect the speed of the original line?

How did you persuade them to do that?

And no, the cap is with the modem, not the feed.

(And yes, I know it's more complex than that, but does he care? Does he hell)

lol, all I really want to know is, when I ask for a second line to be installed to a seperate room will it effect the speed of the first one.

(what you mean I don't care :( )

Ah, you mean dial-up, not cable modem.
A seperate line will not affect your speed at all.

And when I mean you don't care, I meant a discussion of DOCSIS standards and whether or not cable modems are hackable is not what you want to know.

Perhaps there is some misunderstanding.

I currently have one PC with a cable modem Blueyonder connection.

I also have another PC in a seperate room and wish to get a Blueyonder cable modem for that as well.

Will the use of the second cable modem effect the speed of the first because both cables will ultimately go to the same box at the front of the house?

(i'm not however wanting to hack anything)

If i were you I'd wait to see if blueyonder can follow through with there idea of trying to bump up the speed of the network (by implementing the DOCSIS 1.1 standard in the near future) instead of forking out another £25 quid a month, because if they do you can just buy a hardware solution to split the connect between the two boxes.

*cough* 1MB Blueyonder cable modem trialist *cough*

Seemed to work fine. The original idea, 2 cable modems, would work fine...if they let you.

Good stuff, I would just go for ADSL for the 2nd PC but i'm not sure the "price cuts" are going to happen any time soon. What with BT being at the core of it's unveiling.

Your performance might take a little hit but nothing major.

That's a pretty lame excuse. How can they lose it?

Hang on, I work for them. I better stop talking now.
