Ok. Simply put once again (like i do most the time  )

Any ideas on the cabalist lines. I´ve seen what the char builder, public templates and the catacombs in general have to offer but now i want..err..would like ( :p ) some realm feedback.

So, puff the pet till it´s blue in teh face and killing orange mobs or go with the other (matter?) line and get the archer de-puf negate sight?

Any other suggs are gladly taken into consideration as well :D

I got a lvl 7 cabalist alt, going for the matter line to get ae dot for rvr

I've only speced 3 in the spirit line and thats as far as i'm gonna go, because i hate the pet. :puke:
Sure its handy solo but it lags, the amount of times its 'warped' behind me in combat (taking the combat with it), and it gets lost soo easily.
And i'd rather be usefull to groups than be a gimp that can only buff my pet.

I have a 13 caabby atm, and its great :) Died 3 times in 13 levels, and each due to an aggro mob spawning on me :)

Ive specced fully in matter so far, as the damage reflection shield is the greatest solo tool there is.
Matter also gives a 4second tick DoT, rather than the 5 second baseline.

At level 15, Ill put that levels points into body for the first health transfer.
After that, Ill go mind, and occasionally put into body.

The DoT, Disease, Debuff, Lifetap, Transfer health to others combo should give a decent enough group cabby.

Also, your pet wont take that much XP from a full group. My minstrel and then theurg was in a keltoi group, and the sorc was using a gremlin pet, and I'd say there was a 5-10% xp drain if that.

The XP leeched by the pet depends on the % of damage it does. In a group that isnt much :)

Ta.

Thanks for the info, also would like to hear on people who use the pet and only the pet as a weapon. Basicly speccing in the..err...pet line :p

But thanks for the info, don´t know if it helped my decision but still

hehe

I havent put any points into spirit, but the pet solo's fine.

Use the Amber until level 12, then the sapphire. Use the damage reflect shield, and you can solo oranges, 2 yellows, 3 blues or the odd red with np.
Remember - the pet is expendable.

One tip - the sapphire needs a little nudging to movve after a fight :). Stand near it, click passive, defensice, passive and it should move :)

The pet movement bug will be fixed in 1.48, according to RightNow.

And dont tell me Simulacrums are gimps in a group. they simply rawk at crowd control, and caster protecter.

Key word is expendable. get to the BIG one, and you'll notice. ive seen the bad boy fend off 1 purp and 1 red, while the group took care of the 1st purpe (heals and hp transfer included, but mostly just transfer)

Not sure if its a bug, but he seems to have ALOT of hitpoints, and the dam shield takes aggro like a lvl 70 infil ( :p )

His damage aint too bad either.
And he is just soo damn cute :D

Besides, he ROCK in RvR. the way he can stalk a stealther, is simply one of THE most useful RvR abilities. put an infil with a caba, and you got a death squad.

So dont tell me he's a gimp :D

( Opinions are free to have, ofc. but maybe your caba is just specced wrongly)

I balance my spec points between all three lines pretty much evenly and I have had no serious problems so far. My Cabalist seems to be far more versatile than any other class I've tried and I've developed a variety of tactics to cope with different types of mob. Naturally as I'm a generalist rather than specialist my tactics involve the use of all the Cabalists skills, debuffing, rooting, DOT, DD and attacking with a fully buffed pet. I find I can usually take out 2, sometimes 3 orange mobs before having to stop and rest.

The other reason that I spread my points out so evenly is that I'm thinking about the future. At the moment the spirit/pet line is the weakest part of our class and as the golems are supposed to be the main feature that distinguishes us from the the other spell casters it must surely be the prime candidate for future enhancement. There are already rumours of a higher level pet, more powerful buffs and perhaps the ability to apply the buffs to player's characters. If any of this comes true any Cabalist that has neglected the spirit line may well regret it.

The warping will still be bad, yes, but we will get loads of new buffs for the golem in 1.48 as far as I can see.

I am specced evenly between body and spirit and I am the caba HiredGoon was talking about.

When you spec as I have, you can: Tank (well, your pet can), heal, crowd control, debuff, DD and DoT. What more can a group hope for :D

Mordacai, I am really interested in hearing more of your "all spec lines" project. Plz tell me more when you are around lvl 30, cos I thought of doing the same, but as I said, I went for Body/Spirit.

I too solo orange with no problems and I think I am a pretty good asset to groups as well, especially small ones.

Actually I was in a 7 person group today, with another caba (specced just about the same way as I) and no healers. Taking purps, we could still manage to heal the group even though we had two infils :D

Well I'm level 27 and am having no problems, if anything it is getting easier. My character is not mega-powerful at any of the spell lines but I'm not useless at any of them either :) . For that reason my character tends to be very versatile. I yet to find a mob (of orange level) that I can't develop an effective tactic with which to defeat it in solo combat.

Actually I find that it helps not to be able to hit the mobs too hard with my spells as it ensures that the pet can maintain the agro. The only time I tend to get hit is when I attract an add, in which case I tend to sprint away and leave my poor golem to its fate  . I don't think I've died more than half a dozen times in the last 10 levels.
