In win95 and stuff you could get Windows Explorer to open up directly to C: instead of to My Documents all the time.

Anyone know what I need to put in the command line to make it open up C: instead of My Documents first?

Hi WPKenny

If you right-click the link, choose properties and then add /e,/root, to the end of the target, Windows Explorer should then default to the root drive (i.e. your link's target should be %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/root,).

Hope this helps

I have a similar question (Sorry if its off topic :p )

in the open/save dialogs in windows where did the "Desktop" button go? ther used to be one next to up for desktop. any way to put it back? It was there in Win98 but has gone in XP :(

Also how can i make My computer appear first, rather than my docs, in the dialogs?

If you get TweakUI(XP) you can customise the five XP "quick icons" in open/save dialogs easily from there.

That's how I did it anyway. It'll be a registry setting somewhere if you want to hunt it by hand. Probably in LOCAL_USER since individuals can customise their own open/saves.

As I say, hunt out TweakUI.

TweakUI for WindowsXP (~564Kb)

Once installed (be sure to uninstall any previous versions first), just select the 'Common Dialogs' option on the left. Well done (Shovel) :D

Kind Regards
