Hi guys
It has now been officially confirmed that, like Internet Explorer, Outlook Express is to be no longer actively updated. Any patches in the future will be to fix security concerns, rather than to add extra functionality.
Kind Regards

So, although Outlook Express won't disappear, we may be waiting until Longhorn in 2005 to find out where Microsoft is heading. Some are speculating that Microsoft will release an 'all-in-one' browser, a bit like MSN Explorer, which utilises Hotmail as the email client, but with added support for POP3 and IMAP. Others just say Microsoft will push as hard as it can to get people to switch to the new and improved Outlook 2003 (which will be available to buy as a standalone product as well as being bundled with Office).Dan Leach, Lead Product Manager for Microsoft's Information Worker Product Management Group
[Outlook Express] just sits where it is ... The technology doesn't go away, but no new work is being done. It is consumer e-mail in an early iteration, and our investment in the consumer space is now focused around Hotmail and MSN. That's where we're putting the emphasis in terms of new investment and new development work."
