If you go to a YouTube video on Android the first time it should ask you if you want to use the app and avoid the shitty flash crap

The flash is shitty, but my Desire hd can play full screen in browser, the problem with the mobile app is that half the youtube vids you want to watch are blocked, so you have to boot up the desktop browser version to see them, which is seriously fucked up by youtube.
