BY games (Blueyonder)

First of all apologies of this has been posted before, this place has so many forums I can't keep track of what goes where.

It seems that Blueyonder (bygames) is going P2P to an extent as well. They are retaining some publics but the majority will be P2P.

This is bit that I couldn't get my head around (and I probably have it wrong) you pay £2 a month (can't pay annually) if you are a Telewest subscriber or £3 a month if you are not, and you only get 14 hours a month on the dedicated servers, with no option to increase that.

Seems a flawed model to me, but they haven't explained it very well. I can see that if and when Jolt follow suit, that is the major's all P2P.

Can someone check if I have got this right?

Can't be arsed :)

However I'm waiting for the day that UK2 go P2P, that will be sooo funny.
(No I don't play there but some workmates do)

It works the same as the BW Bookables system, 2/3 quid a month gives you 840 hours of booking time per month. They also seem to be running publics, AND subs only servers, whether this will change in the future.....

How come its only the fuckin GSPs i play on that get Subbed...

Even tho i paid for my Subs with Game.net, i hardly use their servers anymore... instead i play on BlueYonder... not Jolt, or Demon or whatever....

Now... i play on BlueYonder and its good i like it... now looks like these buggers are gonna sub too... and theres no way i shall be paying for it.... But like hell am i gonna be forced to play on places like Jolt...

ACK!

It definately looks as though the market is fast becoming subscription only, that is the model GAME/BW have adopted and I suspect they were probably right to do so, being an early adopter gets the advantage of catching a captive audience first, its a lot harder to encourage people to leave another subscription.

Although the days of the free internet are drawing to a close, it is most certain it will remain cheap. Take connection charges, my ISP lowered by £7/month recently for ADSL, that is competition in the making, that alone would pay for subscriptions to three or four GSPs.

The whole aspect of the internet is driven on small charges from large amounts of consumers, advert banners are a good example.
