BY cable modem fitting next week - anything to check/watch 4?

Next Thursday is due to be "lpb" day, but as far as the installation, is there anything I need to ensure is checked - for example line gain, etc... - while the engineer is on site. They're also installing a network card in the pc.

They will check it all for you. It's not like some gimp BT telephone engineer coming to fit a new phone line.

All they need to ensure is that :

* your Signal to Noise ratio is above 30dB
* your DOWNSTREAM powerlevel is between -5dBmV and +5dBmV
* the UPSTREAM powerlevel is below 55dBmV

Oh yeah, and make sure your QAM is 64, not 256.

S/N ratio I understand and the powerlevel is logical, but what is QAM...
