BWCSL Action-Nation Roundups

As those who read this particular area of the forum are fully aware, since Rogue1 took over the running of the BWCSL a roundup of event information has been posted on Action-Nation on a regular basis.

This run down on results throughout the league, from top to bottom, was an excellent way to stay up to date with results and happenings within the league itself. There was nothing worse than having to view each division in turn in the fixtures / divisional tables section.

However, it now appears these results and roundups are to stop.Frankly, im appauled and dismayed at the attitude of the people who have bought this about. Rogue has had to stop the reports due to the attitudes of LOWER division clans who actually objected to positive comments from Rogue, saying they were "rubbishing" his clan.
For a lower division clan such as mine, no other form of coverage or external opinion is offered and its nice to get a pat on the back or an "x could do better here" . Its not an ego thing, its called constructive criticism.
Ive played in various leagues and various mods starting in the QWTF league system which was by far the most fiercely rivalled league ive ever played in, however people in there could accept constructive criticism and build off it and one thing people certainly appreciated was hard work and dedication to something that is, after all, a hobby.

Rogue1 and the entire BWCSL team work very hard to ensure that the BWCSL is the best UK CS league to compete in and in my opinion have succeeded. For them to attempt to give something back to the community in a nutshell-esque report, only to have it slapped back in their face by a few petty clans who think that a negative comment may well endanger their chances of getting to the WGC Championships is frankly laughable.

Grow up and sod off.

I'll also be sad to loose the roundups, as they were a good way of giving coverage to clans who would otherwise not get any and of exposing some of the rising talent in the UK CS scene. However, ultimately, if I am offending BWCSL clans, then I am not doing my job properly and since several clans took offence at my most recent roundup, despite my best efforts to be objective and impartial, I am forced into the conclusion that there is not currently a place in the league for them.

There may be a shorter roundup of the division 1 action, where most of the clans are known names. Given that nobody from division 1 has yet complained about a roundup, I think this is only fair. There may also be an end-of-season roundup with no predictions. However, for the rest of this season at least, the general roundups will not be appearing.

Edit: It's also the case that it's pretty much impossible for me to make accurate predictions. Since I can only go on previous BWCSL records for the most part, this makes things very hard for me and I frequently make mistakes.

tbh, nobody could moan if you dropped the predictions only. Keeping the roundups would still be nice - i know some idiots think they should be given more credit, but thats stupid and egotistical chumps shouldn't play imo. Just go back to public play and keep spamming "my team is a bunch of n00bs". after all its where they belong.

Used to love reading the roundups before i went home for the weekends from uni last season, and its a shame that these people ruin it.

Nooooooooo please dont stop the weekly round-ups they were really, and its the only place you get to read about your own clan unless your a really well known clan. If its just teh prediction that irritate the clans stop doing them, and just do the reports.

also in the predictions bit it if it said u were likely to lose, it used make us try harder 2 win, and prove it wrong.

Some people dont realise what others do to create these round ups. May I ask whoever complained, if they would like to spend their time writing one of these roundups? It took me a good 10 mins or so to read all of it and its a lengthy process. Us admins dont get paid and a roundup of everyweek is not compulsary. So why does Rogue1 and his workers do this? Well, its for all of our interest, and it makes BWCSL different from other leagues.

You flick to other league sites and its like "ooooo i-es No1 clan in UK ultra good in CPL blahblah".....but what about the smaller clans? I am sure they deserve a mention?

Its a small number that spoil it for the rest of us. I would like to thank Rogue1 for putting such a big effort in making the previous round ups possible, and also other admins that help.

Anyone who saw me asking where these roundups were at the start of the season will know I am a fan of them! Not sure why people would want to complain as everybody loses and everybody wins - nothing surprising there.

Read it and enjoy it, when you get a compliment post it on your webpage :D

What about for next season put it in the rules of the league that the teams agree to be covered in the league roundup as part of the terms of them playing here. Then they have waived any right to complain if they want to play here.

But still if its journalism the clans should expect criticism as should the journalist.

This is sad

Rogue1 did a grand job describing the rather erratic nature of my clans (LBS) form last season it's a shame this has to stop because of a few people bitchin.

Please bring back the reports! It boosts morale and even if the comments arnt that hot just take the comments constructively!

I haven't seen any form of round up since this happened. Bring the back, if the clans that complain doin't like it they can leave the league. Their is obviously more support for the round up's than there is against them.

The lack of roundups recently has just been to do with the fact that I've been so busy at the weekends. Hopefully, I'll be able to start doing them again at some point.

Would it not be best to get each referee to write a small roundup after the match?

This would
a) remove work from Rogue1
b) give a 1st hand account
c) stop flaming of Rogue1 (and move it to the refs, who I suggest ignore it)

It was a really nice feature of last season, and something to shove on the clan websites (and ukterrorist) when news was scarce.
