BW Admin detecting me as a bot

BW admin is detecting me as a bot and it is really starting to piss me off. I posted about this to the forums at planetquake a long time ago and alot of them said that it was because I was using Internet Connection Sharing. Well I finally bought a router and it is still happening. Anyone know anything about this they would care to share?

My connection and stuff

When it first started happening to me I had dsl. Back then I used Internet Connection Sharing to share my dsl between my two computers. Then I got a cable modem through Optimum Online and it continued to happen. I was still using ICS with the cable modem. Now I finally bought an SMC Barricade router and I still get falsely booted off servers for being a bot every now and then.

im not familiar with irc sharing, unfortunately.

iv'e got 3 computers sharing my DSL connection and all i have for that is:

1. 1 host computer
2. 4 port hub
3. each computer gets its own ip, off the same dns. example:

xxx.xxx.x.10
xxx.xxx.x.11
xxx.xxx.x.12

possible probs are the IRC proggy your using, any proxy software you might have and any type of client software that pings the server.

how often is every now and then?

also are you sure you're being kicked for being a bot?

bw-admin kicks for several other reasons including skin changing, fps changing, msg mode 4 (a lot of people use msg mode 4 in best weapon binds), false ping readings (i.e. faking zero ping, but this can happen without being faked).

also some mods and bw-admin don't go well together. i know with tourney and bw-admin if u try join as soon as a map starts it will kick u for being a bot.

also i know of a bug where bw-admin will kick u for being a bot if you change your name during the connect phase.

also bw-admin does do false jitter detects, especially for people with high sens settings.

if u're not kicked almost everytime then i would suspect it would be one of the above rather than any thing else.

thanks man

I do use a high sensitivity, 12, I used to have it even higher at 15. I think it may be for jittering when I rocket jump I do jitter alot. The mod I play is rocket arena. I am not kicked all the time, but enough for it to really really tick me off. Personally I feel that the bw admin bot protection does more harm than good. When I see real bots on the server they are never kicked. I see stuff like people chaining to death 5 people with their measily 200 ammo and they do not get kicked yet I do. I also have chasecamed bots that jitter real bad whenever they fire a shot yet they never get kicked or detected as a bot.

yerh, the new bots use much lower fovs so white fangs jitter detection (included in bw-admin) doesn't pick them up.

i think it's desgined to pick up large swings in aim that the older zbots used to do.

i suppose actually a scripted rocket jump might make bw-admin think this is the case. if it is scripted, then learn to rj without it - you get a lot more control :)

bw-admin has become a bit static recently as the coder has moved onto other things. the only real bot protection out there now is matchmod or q2admin - both which include a reconnect feature which prevents proxy bots from connecting to the server (i.e. the modified modified ratbot that's been around since feb this year :(

to see what i mean try connecting to 195.149.21.38 which is a q2 server i run (it's an instagib server so needs no mod downloads).

i think it would help the quake2 comunity a lot if we could petition a decent update to bw-admin to include the reconnect feature from q2admin.
