Imperiled Wizard Epic 3 Step #1 seems to be stuck. Anyone know how to reset it?

Well theres a bloke on the short standing next to a sorcereress, to whom he makes references in the dialogue. Eventually you have to click on [Escape], but this produces no response. I think maybe the sorcereress should have despawned, but is hanging around bugging the step.

As far as I remember, you can't save the wizard from the sorceress, and you just have to return to your trainer with the news of his demise.

The point it its locked so you can't reach that bit. He just stands there and so does she. I'm pretty sure it is bugged, I have done it before with minstrel I think and had no problems.
