imagine, you are going out to visit someone. for dinner they put up an innocent looking buffet.

its got the classic buffet food -
garlic bread
chicken wings
pickeld onions
cheese
little sausages
etcetera

it tastes nice. hell, you even go back for fucking seconds cos it was so good. you enjoy a beer, a glass of wine and maybe a port with cheese.

AND THEN YOU COME HOME WITH THE SHITS.

Here is the problem with buffet food. People goto the toilet and don't wash their hands after they complete the job, they then move onto to the buffet table and start handling the food. It only takes half a dozen people or so to do the same and 90% of the food on the buffet table will end up contaminated.

I have only ever been to one buffet at a reception/party that I didn't end up with bad guts so now I just avoid the food like the plauge and make sure I either eat before the event or straight after. If you do need to eat the stuff, get up early, grab loads and never go back for seconds. After that you just need to hope that the food was prepared properly but thats another 3-4 paragraphs I can't be arsed to type with a hangover

its amazing how many people dont know simple hygiene, most just shove chicken on high temp and its not cooked properly, just white on the outside

i was brought up in the 80's and early 90s so bleaches that can kill 99% bacteria wernt so availavle (or affordable)

Domestos has been available in the UK since the late 70's iirc and that kills 99% of all bacteria, it is also the UK's most popular bleach. If you look at UK health statistics since it was release though you will notice that the number of people with serious allergies has gone through the roof. Now of course there can and will be other factors involved but in general the rule of thumb is that very clean people end up having problems with overly sensitive immune systems.

one graph a tutor showed us showed an increase between 89-94 in the rise of asthma. but i also found another graph that showed between these times that childhood smoking also increased about the same rate. so i believe that is part of the problem anyway .

youve also got parents thinking peadophiles live in every house, and the grass might have dog shit on. or they dont know little billys parents down the street so the kid wont toddle off and play with him. or the kid cant go too far he might be abducted so he wont go play on that strange field. instead hes stuck in the garden never being exposed to new stuff.

add in also the rise in home entertainment like playstation and TV in every room, youve got little chance of playing outside these days.

Couldn't it also be that we 'discover' new allergies lately? I mean, now all big diseases (not taking into account aids and cancer) are gone, the pharmaceutical industry focuses more on the small, annoying conditions such as allergies. Things which weren't considered an illness in the Middle Ages (after all, why would you be bothered about an itch when the bubonic plague's raging) are now being treated.

It's a bit like with ADHD. If you check the statistics you'll probably see an increase. This doesn't necessarily mean that there are nowadays more kids with ADHD than there used to be. It's just that in the old days they were considered 'annoying kids' and now they're being treated.
