Buff Bots what you think

Reading through some recent threads and seeing peolpe moaning about buff bots. What are you opinions

DO YOU AGREE WITH BUFF BOTS !!!!


Not been able to afford a buff bot should not hamper your decission, If you cant afford a buff bot then dont post I would like honest opinions.

Buffbots

I used a Buffbot as you are all aware of on Honed. Now i have 2 accounts on Mid i tend to use buffbots on any new alt i create to help with levelling.

Do i agree with them?

Well the point is they are there and are not an exploitation. You are not cheating by using one. Infact i could just play my buffbot as a healing shaman and buff at least 2 players as i go along.

Trouble is the difference between a new player and a sc'd/buffed/potioned/proc'd player of the same type is absolutely enormous. But tis one where the weaker new player should then try to aspire too. You can't stop buffers at the moment so then you have to consider one yourself at some stage to counter. You certainly don't weaken yourself to help your enemies!!

So in the player arenas such as BG buffbots are not illegal and so can be used np - until they are banned or something. If someone gets really annoyed at this then i suppose you duel them in some way where buffs are removed.

Dueling? - either you are both the same interms of equipment/buffs or the match is not fair.

Don't feel guilty about a buffbot cos the ones that say they can't afford one or anything else are whining. Believe me as soon as they can afford it or find someway to run 2 accounts at the same time they will! After they have run 2 accounts at the same time they will love it. I can fight with one alt and heal inbetween strikes. If anyone wants details on how to do this using one keyboard/mouse/monitor/56k and 2 base units then i will post it. You can run 2 accounts of SI on one computer but i kept getting game graphic corruption.

Personally i think buffbots just shouldn't exist and would be happy to go back to just equipment from drops and quests.

Fine for levelling and the single player aspect. However, I think giving yourself an advantage which not everyone is able to get in pvp is wrong. With SC and alchemy, everyone can get them done. If they choose not to because they are lazy, it's their problem that they are at a disadvantage. If they go into battle and the enemy has a buffbot and they don't, there isn't much they can do really... This applies for both bg's and rvr.

The whole reason it's a problem is because of the snowball effect it has. Once one person chooses to use a buffbot, a beaten enemy may decide to do the same tog et 'even'. Then he goes out and owns someone and they make a buffbot. Before you know it, 90% of the people who can use buffbots are doing so. The others are grouping up into stealth zergs to avoid the buffbotters. Before you know it, rvr is pretty much ruined... The thing is there is really no way of going back. At least int he bg, people progress through and their buffbots leave after a while

Range

Maybe a range on all buff bots would be a good idea, not so effective if you have to tow a char round with you, becuase you get out of range buffs cancel !!! I myself am starting to use a buff bot to assist in lvl no doubt tho when darkjayyo reach's bg my bot will be there also

I used one to level my second infiltrator to thidranki, I used it in there a few times but just felt too overpowered and it was a bit easy and boring. After i stopped using and enjoyed my time there alot more with much better challanging fights.

Now when i go to the BGs with other various alts, i just find it incredibly lame about how people use buffbots there. /em points at pinkeyez

Why have 2 accounts? - How do you swap stuff from one alt to another in this game? Tis the reason i got my second account in the first place cos i was so pissed off trying to get help all the damn time. Buffbot was not the reason i got it - that came later.

The game is seriously flawed in some aspects that make loads of players get a 2nd account to help with moving items between alts. Am pretty sure nearly everyone that gets a 2nd account does so out of frustration and to help with crafting and so on. Buffing is just something that comes later.

The CoC should stop me from buffbotting if I was an honest player, but ti doesn't. I got a second account (The SI bundle), updated my current account to SI, and then planned to use the free month to level a cleric to help my inf level. As it was, I also got a necro to 50 on ym main account, and so can level thid characters quite quickly. I do have a level 24 cleric (19/14 enh/rej) who I could quite feasibly use to buffbot my thid characters, but I don't. I only play my cleric grouped around thid (Hence the 14 rej). Just becasue I have a buffbot, doesn't eman I have to use her in rvr...

Yeah well i used mine cos i was so pissed at infs - hehe - i seem to get pissed at quite a lot of things don't i - odd that.

PS. Summer is here now so very little game play for me from now on - and might well pack it all in! Infact that would, i am sure, be a very good decision to make!

Seriously Nerf if you need 2 accounts just to swap items between chars you don't enough friends ... or not the right ones.

Thinks about that for a while will ya?.. how the hell are they going to ban people for buffbotting?

People who get banned now (for breaking the CoC) only get banned if they get reported.

How are you going to report someone. First of all you never know if someone is buffed.. off course you can be pretty sure if you are tickeling him and he kills you in 2 blows. But you're not sure. And if he WAS buffed how do you know his buffer is his bot ... or some character running around?

Sure now everybody admits to having buffbots ... but when the CoC would forbid them that would stop... and it would be nearly impossible for GOA to filter the whining "I've been 0wned by <insert random SB>" from the legitimate reports.

To answer the original poster... I don't like buffbots ... I would love to see buffs have a max range .. make it long like 3000 or maybe even longer ... so during a big battle buffs would still stay up...

But I am seriously concidering getting one myself... shooting a caster for only 300 when I get killed in 2 600 shots by a hunter gets very frustrating.

Buffbots suck, solely for the reason that they clutter up the PK's now, as im kind of expecting to see a list of 10 green lines of text as a SB dies, seeing as its the current trend.

Ranges on Buffs is something i've thought would be an awesome idea for ages - it'd mean that anyone wanting a buffbot would have to /stick them to their main, which would at least give others in a group with a real player buffing, the opportunity to "level the field" as it were...

How much of a difference would it make,( if stated in the minimum requirements needed to play DAoC, that having two accounts /pc`s would severely give you the upper hand when its level 50 and rvr time, as without you will be badly handicapped against people who do have them), to people about to buy the game?.

My opinion on buffbots?
Why bother? that's just one step lower than uber twinking you character,
i mean i'm fine with twinking your character out with nice equipment, but buff botting is just low >_<

past experience with a kobold using a buffbot:

some kobold hunter started shooting at bigchief, and killed him... so i chased him down with my scout... sprinting of course to keep up with the hunters "press to escape" button, just as i caught up with the kobold, he stealthed.. luckily i moved over him and saw him and started attacking him with my sword.
...
what does he do?.... well not turn round and fight me back... a scout with no endurance and hitting for 25 each time.... no he just legs it back to mpk with me stuck to him hitting him all the way...

i get him all the way down to like less than 5% health... and oh what's that? all of a sudden he starts getting healed.... mmmmm just great thnx bye bye...

oh... and anyway, with a buffbot people only cap BG's quicker... so what's the point? afriad you'd lose a fight? i mean come on... what the hell's the point of making it so easy to cap BG? you might as well not even go, and just level to 50 and go RvR...

Id have to agree with the last statement. What exactly is the point in buffboting a battleground? You go to the bg for fun, people even make characters specifically for the bg's because they enjoy it. Its not rvr, you dont *have* to win, the rps are next to meaningless (rr1L4 .. i mean comeon .. mcl and err not alot else thats any use) so whats the point in making sure you can win every fight by being buffed to the tits?

If you go to the bg have fun, have some good fights, enter fights youre not guaranteed to win, half the fun of being there is pulling off something where youre expected to lose .. being buffed by a bot (not a healer in grp that can die and drop buffs) means you arnt really expected to lose. That goes doubly for stealthers (the worst offenders imo) because they can (60% of the time) choose the fights so they can make sure they win. Doing something unexpected doesnt even have to involve killing everything in sight, just the fact you survive can be good .. remember today ran into a thane with 2 bd's not far behind .. double dd'd, mez'd, smacked with his pointy thing and i lived. Didnt touch a single one of them, that wasnt the point. Was still fun because i lived. Had i been a tank, buffed to the balls and lived, it wouldnt have been as fun. Do ya see?

everyone wants a little bit of an edge to make a name for themselves and a buffbot is the way to get it in this game. the reason they gave the ability to use 2 accts in SI was an attempt to even it up. so not only the people with 2 pc's could have buffbots. plus everyone wants a buffbot so they figure they would get more subs from it. thats my take on it anyway.

never used a buffbot in bg or rvr (well, probably got buffed sometimes but not begging/asking for buffs).
That just spoils the fun out of the game, tbh I'd rather see them removing buffs from the game completly then you'd have to trust your "skills" and no twinked buffs but since almost everyone useing a buffbot or a friends buffbot now a days there's nothing to do about it except face the facts and accept it, sad but true.

but for PvE it's a whole another point of view, there's not a real person sitting and spent serveral hours of leveling to actually being able to kill some other player in this game. And then a buffinfil/buffblade comes and kills him mostly because off his buffbot (not saying that buffbot users lack of skills) There you only have a programmed thingy to act like it does, no feelings are hurt (since it seems people get their feelings hurt while getting killed by a stealther in this game)

well .. that's my opinion anyways.
