anyone watch this earlier? imo, its one of the better plans ive seen in the last years. less fucking over the people between 20 - 60 and more about giving bonuses to everyone outside of that.

mr brown mentioned he could afford to cut taxes but instead he would put double the money into education. seems a good idea in the long run, that is if the new generation of kids actually arnt no hopers like we have now.
the way it seems is he is hoping all these people will go through education, get fantastic jobs and then pay the high taxes like everyone else.

rather than lower the taxes now, leave education as it is and not so many get fantastic jobs. imo that way would only lead to us being a poorer country.
bonuses for the 20 - 60 lot?
the tax threshold is higher so you can earn more. in the end, it doesnt matter much anyway. its more money you can spend on taxable stuff isnt it :) .

free a-levels to 25 anyone? sounds good to me. if i wasnt in uni now i would be taking him up on the offer.

and for the boozers and smokers. 1p goes onto a pack of fags, 4 p onto a bottle of wine. although dont quote me on the wine increase, i cant recall exactly if it was wine or a pint.

only downside of the plan is axing 40,000 civil jobs to raise a few billion. not a good move imo, but fair play to him having the bollocks to do it.

The abolition of the 0% tax band for limited companies is an admission that he fucked up by bringing it in in the first place. Over a billion lost in tax, but hey! At least the government can say there have been over a million new companies formed in the uk over the past 3 years

Pissup and brewery spring to mind.

It was a highly predictable budget. Given Mr. Brown is going to be the next UK premiere, this was a PR exercise to bolster the appearance of economic stability and to placate the electorate. One of the most unimaginative budgets Labour have delivered.

Following the 1832 Reform Act, Labour were firmly identifiable as the party for the proletariat. In the 1940's the Labour party's swing to socialism led to the foundation of the National Health Service. In the 1960's and 1970's, trade union shop stewards had close ties to the Communist Party of Moscow. Today, New Labour has moved from the middle ground of the 1980's to a soft right-wing political party controlled by weathly benefactors, populated by a highly diverse, inexperienced, unrepresentative, and largely incompetent collection of ragtag Members of Parliament. Their massive inexperience at setting up workable policies and following them through for the benefit of the ordinary man in the street will be their undoing. Labour, acting de facto (if not de jure) as a military puppet for President George Bush's political machinations have further weakened rather than homogenised our very diverse multi-culultural society. Labour's political correctness, pandying to every minority whim, banning the flying of the George Flag on our own battle ships on St. Georges Day last year, their hopeless immigration policy, their utter failure to look after our own before aliens, and the Nanny State has dissilusioned the electorate and diminished economic confidence.

Vote Conservative at the next General Election.

He could get a haircut then and employ Dynorod to syphon all the grease out of his hair.

4p on wine,
all in all was a good budget, i like the idea of charging more for cars that create more pollution (even tho i have one :p), and giving incentives to switch to more enviromentally friendly modes of transport.

Now all they gota do is un-privatise the transport network/add performance related prices/fines.

Quite pleased with the budget, but i still wont be voting labour next election, they have ruined too much for that

I think it was a good budget all in all. More needs to be done to tax high profit making (non-manufacturing) companies though such as banks and accountancies, with tax breaks given to UK based industries.

I don't think any more incentives were needed for people to have more children with the whole child trust fund thingy - screws over people who don't want children, and we have enough single mothers as it is.

I think its an awesome idea to let people try their A-levels until the age of 25 - gives a real opportunity for those that didn't do as well, or were excluded for whatever reason to return at a later date if they want to, and continue with non-university education.

Vehicle tax was a good thing - there's no need for huge 4x4s everywhere, although farmers will get a bit of a raw deal. Also an incentive to make car manufacturers develop more efficient cars.

Fags and booze increasing a good thing - the less of these the better. (no, I'm not a puritan kill-joy, but smoking is dangerous for everyone, and the culture of binge-drinking at the moment is going to cripple the NHS in 20 years time).

At least half my friends haven't had their house reposessed/lost their jobs like under the last bunch.

Or do you not remember that far back?

/confused

Tax breaks given to UK based companies? He already tried that and look where it got him. Billions lost in corporation tax over the past 3 years that could of been put into hospitals and schools.

Also, why should accountancy firms and banks pay more tax than everyone else?

i'm sick of them tbh bloody politics! that child trust fund thingy is a joke and where is the money for that coming from? i really hope its not from my tax, i don't intend to have children and im flipped if i can see why i should have to pay for anyone elses.

i seem to recall that the national debt was phenominally high but since the budget was looming people stopped mentioning it but it was plastered all over the news for ages about how people are all in debt up to their eyeballs with credit cards etc and that the NHS was rapidly going down the swanny but i don't think he mentioned these.

Though i do remember them saying he's setting up a fund for ecological research or something, about bloody time too, fat lot of good being in downing street if all the voters have mutated in to mushrooms due to high pollution levels imo.

anyhoo i hate politics, its all crap and when it comes to voting imo theyre all as bad as eachother.

Thats more like it, was wondering why they taxed booze more than fags when I read the original post, and I will definitely be voting conservative in the next election(Again:)).

perhaps but some have policies that you like more than others,
i think the child thing is a good thing for the mothers genuinly who struggle to make ends meet, and are single out of no fault of their own. Unfortuantely we live in a society where there are always people abusing the system, and people feel no loss in what little dignity abusing the system and living off hand outs.

NHS has been going down hill ever since the government decided they were going to mini-manage the system, they wanted to pass down rules to the NHS (one of the biggest organisations in the world). Which simply is impossible.
But its not all bad, duty is increased on drink and fags giving people less incentive to use them at the same time (hopefully) off-setting the cost to the NHS in their welfare when their bodies can simply take no more.

Road tax will be based on how much pollution (sp?) your vehical is causing, giving more incentive to go to alternatives.

The house buying thing is just political spin tho, they should simply drop the stamp duty on houses for first time buyers considerably dropping the house prices meaning they can afford them.

I might actually vote lib dem to be quite honest as i think conservatives will make a mess of it if they get into power.
David Cameron is simply a front man for the party, and changes his policies according to what is popular to be quite honest.
