Has anyone been? What is it like? I fancy a city break there in October...

Well you know...when you spend 9-3 twiddling your thumbs and reading a couple of stories.. The mind wanders on places to go to spend that massive salary!

Had a good weekend there last year. Great looking city and lots to do. A visit to the former headquarters of the secret police will live long in the memory. You simply have to take a trip on the Danube and the castle is worth a visit too.

Did find the people a little bland and they are very officious too, but I can forgive them that when their capital is so lovely.

Not been for a few years but it is a nice city. Not sure I would go back for a holiday though. Prague is a better bet with more to see if you have not been.

Went a few years ago; nice place. Try and go to one of the public baths/saunas, they're amazing. Seem to remember going to this funky restaurant that was all 70s throwback design (if you've seen Grand Budapest Hotel - like the Jude Law scenes) and the food was great. The view from the castle is a highlight, but don't assume its open every weekend, we went around September time and it wasn't...

Remember to check the fridge for things that might spoil, or other such fruitfly attracting thigns on tables, clean house and all. And do remember to close stuff, aformentioned fridge and so on.

Otherwise just look up sh*t on Buddy for the next days, might find some things you would've missed.

It was brilliant. I highly recommend Budapest. Incredible architecture, food and people.

Apparently I was asking too much for my services, the competition was harsh and I couldn't compete.

Which was a shame, as I feel I have so much to offer
Maybe it's because your too tall. 6'4" is a little on the tall side for Hungarians. Too intimidating ;)

You could be right, I do come over as very imposing at times. Poor little flowers that they are
