Ok heres the speel from BT on the constant lockups:

BT: "Im sorry sir, our technical team are not qualified to deal with online gaming related matters."

ME: "So is nothing going to be done about this problem?"

BT: "Unless we recieve an enormous amount of calls... no."

ME: "Thanks... F4ck j00!"

I urge anyone with problems to call BT ASAP and give them hassle about it. Otherwise you are just wasting your time with waiting for this connection shite to sort itself out.

BT Openworld tech support number is: 0845 600 70 30

My advice, go to www.dowload.com and get VisualRoute, do a trace to a server, with 100 repetitions and see where the problem is, if it's within BT's network, then it's their resposibility.

Generally an Online Gaming issue is a symptom of another problem, one which the technical team are likely to take notice of, if you can identify it.

My advice, don't overclock your PC so much - BT OpenWorld (and indeed USB as a whole) has problems with "MaXXiMuM OvErCloKing" on AMD/VIA stuff (which I'm guessing you've got)...

..otherwise er... ring BT again :D

I dont think that's the trouble, as I have BT Internet as one of my ISPs for ISDN, and I've been experiencing lockups and stutters whilst using it for the last week or two.

Doesnt happen when using Demon tho, so I guess BT, or one of their peering networks is to blame.

I've experienced the same lockups using ISDN and BT Anytime. While I know full well BTi is cack for gaming, it has been perfectly fine up until around a couple of weeks ago.

Constant stutterage for 2-10 seconds at a go making it unplayable.

All other ISPs that I've been using have been fine, no stuttering, nada.

I performed a trace to an NGUK server and found that the hop from telehouse (node 8) to cwci.net's server (node 9) spiked up to as much as 500ms. This spiking showed up once about every 20 seconds or so and held there for around 5-10 seconds at a go which tallies up with the duration of stuttering experienced while in-game. All other nodes were fine holding 20-40ms as one would expect.

Here is the screenie for those interested.

I'll make a call to BTi and email them with this info for what it's worth.
