BT Highway/ADSL?- advice needed!

Been lookin for an affordable way to get 7 days a week 0800 access to the net.
The only way i have found so far that would give good connection speed is to sign up for highway and also sign up with 08004U giving 24 hours a day 7 days a week 0800 access.
Trouble is after allowing for included call charges and costs of 08004U goin to cost me about 70 quid a month! Hmmm?
This would be ideal and i reckon i could just about justify it but wonder if ADSL would be a better option?
Unfortunately i cannot find any info on how much ADSL IS goin to cost and i have read rumours that its gonna cost over £1000 a year!!

If so would be quite happy to go for highway/08004U combo.

If anybody has any ideas/info would be most grateful to hear from you.

I'm in the same situation as u m8. I really need a strong connection to the net (for a 2comp lan sharing setup) and was about to get isdn, but I'm still reluctant to do so. I know cable will be about £40/mnth, and adsl is rumoured to be upwards of £50, both flat-rate connections - but if these "new" technologies aren't going to be around for ages why wait?
I really don't want to get isdn and then regret it

- for what it is, it is overpriced.

08004U is just a waste of money

.
Look at Che's BW column to see just how great it is...
If you can't be arsed, he got a 1000+ (yes, one thousand) ping with his ISDN.

Me gettin really pi$$ed off with net at mo especially BTinternet.
250-350 ping just aint good enough when six months ago i was gettin 130-180.
£11.75/month! ROFL
Get better with some freeserves!
Got sneaky feelin that ADSL is gonna be a big dissapointment as i have just read a response paper from BT to OFTEL and BT reckoned at the time demand wasnt great enough to make ADSL a serious business proposition!!?? GET REAL!
Hmmm? Looks like the cash cow's gettin worried at all the revenue they might loose from Business high speed connections!!
Also lookin at BT offering its trial customers a slower service! and i bet thats the same as what freeserve are gonna offer (512 download/64 upload).
Looks like BT are gonna cut short the potential for this new service! NO STREAMING VIDEOS/TV TO YOUR PC! 512kbs only gonna be good for CD qual music!
WhyTF do we always get ripped off and screwed backwards with everything in this country!!

If this country gets any worse me gonna look at emigrating!

Soz if ive mumbled on a bit but this really gets me wound up!

WTF ROCKHARD, u said that 70 quid a month was cool, and moan at 1000 a year?

I would HAPPILY pay 13 quid more a month than i wanted to pay, for ADSL. HAPPILY!
