Hopefully not a GLEN, but Im not about much and cant be arsed searching.

Those of you who use BT as their broadband provider might like to know that their 1meg service is now £29.99, down from £40.99. Thats only4 quid more than the half meg service.

Ive only just noticed this so there maybe one or two of you who might be in the same boat.

Ive had this for a couple of months after upgrading from 512 , its 100% reliable and works fine :)
However, since getting it BT havent charged me a penny. I actually rang them last month to ask what was going on, they said blah blah oh we dont know, and in the end gave me 2 months free internet for pissing me about.
This month I get the email saying £30.99 will be deducted from my credit card, but no money is taken!
Ho hum ...

Yup, I've also upgraded to the BT 1 meg line.

The 30 gig cap is going to be a pain in the arse - but, as mentioned, it doesn't get enforced (if at all) until "sometime" in 2005.

Just for the record I DL 40 gigs last month and so far this month have done 16 gigs :/

Service is fine though with some rip snorting speeds on Bittorent.

That's a 7/10 on the Wij-scale.

I've just moved to Plus.Net with their 512 being £21.99 no capping.

So far they have been great. They accelerated my migration from Zen from 3 weeks down to one.

Now Ive just got to upgrade to the 1meg line for £29.99 no capping.

Speeds are as good if not better than Zen...

I hardly ever download anything, so I can't see a problem with 1 gig a day anyway.
Although I dont know how 3 or 4 hours of cs a day plus god only knows how many hours of Jedi Acadamy (my son plays this endlessly) will effect the download limit.

It annoys me that BT didnt bother to tell me about this price reduction and I only found out purely by accident. Ahh well, looking forward to the upgrade

I'm over a barrel with BT atm, seems they are the only people that will do my ADSL and they can only do the 512 version. Something to do with my shitty location.

Meh, guess I should just be happy I've got broadband at all.

This is totally fuked!

I got no email from BT regarding any upgrade.

On their website it says:

BT Yahoo! Broadband (512kbps) from £26.99 per month **
BT Yahoo! Broadband (1Mb) from £29.99 per month **

Now, I got an email last month telling me my monthly charge has dropped from 29.99 to 27.99 - which is exactly what BT are now charging me for a 512KB line...(£1 surcharge for not using direct debit).

I was also informed that as of 1/1/2005 my service will be capped at 15GB/month, with each additional Gig at £2/gig, which means that a 30GB download session in any given month will cost me close to £60.

BT email said:
So that we can continue to offer our best possible price to customers, we'll be introducing a usage allowance of 15GB of data a month.

....not one mention of a 1gig bandwidth...

Am I being screwed-around here? Or, is the service limited to certain areas?

Right!
That's it!
I'm calling them now!!!!!

It gets worse...I just read online about the 1GB service (what a con) if you go for the 1gig line you're capped @ 30 gig/month.

I entered all my details into the online deely to ascertain if the 1gig service is available and...ta da!!! ... it's not. Apparently I live outwith the 3.5 KM range from the exchange.

This is where I get really pissed off. 'cause I live on the South side of Glasgow, probably just a couple of miles from the heart of the city centre....I don't feken live in the sticks!

Nope. I keep all my emails from BT. The only ones I ever get are the ones telling me when my payment is due.

Hmmm. When I ordered BT Yahoo! Broadband I went for the £30 package due to the lack of download caps. And now they plan to introduce one. How convenient for BT.....

I didnt get an email from them either, a mate of mine who got his DSL line put in at the same time as me a few years back asked (then laughed) cause i didnt have it yet. Went online and within 10 days I was on a 1 meg line.
