At 1am on Sunday 31st October the clocks will change and we will gain an hour, and change from BST (British Summer Time) to GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) so UK time will be GMT not BST from Sunday.

CEST (Central European Summer Time) changes back to CET (Central European) at the same time, so the difference won't change, just what the times are called.

Summary:

From Sunday, GMT = UK time :)

More about it here

People get confused about what time raids start, because they say it will start at GMT when they mean UK time. In the summer, UK time is not GMT, its BST, but after this sunday, UK time will be GMT.

Either way UK time is always +1 to the time in the rest of Europe.

If you're really still confused, maybe this will help:

In the winter months, UK time is the same as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).

In the summer months, UK clocks and time are shifted an hour forward.

So in summer: UK time = GMT +1. This is called BST (British Summer Time).

When BST ends, as it does today (31st October, in the early morning), the UK clocks and time are shifted back by one hour to GMT.

So as of now, UK time is back to being GMT...and a lot of people will enjoy an extra hour in bed this morning.

At least a few others will probably forget to change their clocks and end up turning up to raids an hour early :D

Basical, the reason we change from GMT to BST is because of the canary islands.
There clocks dont go backwards n forwards, so when we go forward in spring britian goes to BST, and referal to GMT would mean Canary island time because there on the same time line as the UK and dont move there clocks about.

Thats why it so confusing with the UKs time, centeral Europe dont have this problem, so CET could infact be CET all year round. but the UK has to use BST and GMT as there 2 totally different times.

Hope that makes sence :p
