Been happening since yesterday and i'm ready to throw my laptop out the window

Some pages seem to load in normal time whilst others are either loading with funny formats and altered fonts/colours etc, and some just hang when loading up.

Haven't downloaded anything new, ran a virus/spyware scan to clean everything up, did a system restore to a few days ago when everything was fine and as far as i can tell everything's in order, tried rebooting the laptop, router, unplugging everything etc etc

The weird thing is i can download at capped speeds, but browsing in Firefox (latest version w/e it is) and whatever oldish IE i've got is slow to the point of tears.

Please help, it's killing me not being able to ride the interwebs :(

Uninstall FF and reinstall?

Any plugins for FF that could be messing with the webpages?

Not sure - i've disabled all the plugins, but no joy.

Would try reinstalling but seems strange it'd start at the same time in two different browsers?

So annoying though, i can quite happily idle on facebook and chat to people but as soon as i want to check out a forum it takes hours to load a page

do you know your contention ratio?
someone else stealing bandwidth? unprotected wireless connection?
someone in your house downloading shit loads of torrents>?
history / cookies etc / temp internet files - clean your cobwebs
virus / tracking malware / trojans - disconnect & do a full system scan
call your isp - get them to run a speed test
call your phone company & get them to test the line
if your line & ISP's ok, its your computer. Buy a new one. You need one. Treat yourself.

it may not be your computer, Wonk.
could be a lack of facial hair
I bet you that if you grow a big bushy moustache, everything looks better
Take Dick Strawbridge. Do you think HE has problems? Of course not.
Grow a moustache or STFU.

Yeah I had a feeling it was a 'lack of face fuzz' problem myself. It makes sense when you think about it.

Some antivirus programs(especially Avast) have a webshield, in my experience it doesn't actually protect from anything but some pages become unreachable or almost unreachable with them enabled.
