Brighton to sign Kanchelskis

This would be the worst signing Brighton could ever make. When will people learn that signing old players looking for their last paycheck is utterly pointless? I refer you to Mr. Neil Ruddock.

He's been at Southampton and a club in Qatar/Saudi Arabia, which seems to be turning into a retirement home for old pro's. Batistuta and Lebouef are both collecting around £50,000p/w out there. Kanchelskis quit his club over a pay dispute, I believe. I think that's evidence enough to prove he's only after the money, and doesn't much care about playing.

Ruddock did okay at West Ham, the few games he played with Julian Dicks probably scared the crap out of the opposition.

Ruddock came to the club and was unfit and overweight. The club had to have a pair of shorts specially tailored for him because he couldn't fit in over 90 pairs that were at the club.

Ruddock played something like 16 games for us then got injured. He was told to retire from the game but refused to until he got a pay-off from us.

He then proceeded to leech the club dry of as much money as he could until his contract ran up, contributing to us ending up in administration and having a transfer embargo placed upon us. During this time he demanded a second opinion from a doctor about retiring who told him the same, once again he refused to retire but still hadn't trained with the club (or in any capacity) for months and months.

Ruddock came to the club on insane wages for division two, let alone a club whose finances were already very tight. He was given this contract by the then Chairman, Donegan, who happened to be Ruddock's next door neighbour. After 12 months at the club there was a clause in his contract with entitled him to a "loyalty bonus" of a rather large figure. The club refused to pay this as he hadn't played for the club for about nine months.

In the end, he settled for a 6 figure pay-off days before he was going to take us to an industrial tribune which potentially could have closed the club down.

Ruddock is not "okay".

Mank saying that is a tad short sighted tbh.

For a start Brighton has NO cash, partly due to having a stadium that is one of the smallest in div 3 let alone div1/2. This is made worse by some dumb farmers worried about a duck pond and a church.

Other factors such as couch supporters, who only gained interest when we got to div 1 have no buggered off.

Not all clubs have the budgets off Manchester utd.

Oh and Zamorra was a god :(

What? All Kanchelskis is looking for is a final payday, he's just another hasbeen with no interest in playing football.

What does any of this have to do with me? Swindon have been in adminstration twice since we dropped out of the premiership, most football league clubs finanaces are very poor, just look at Oldham and Notts County.

I just hope Kanchelskis doesn't end up ripping you off big style like so many of these ex-Premiership 'stars' do with smaller clubs nowadays. Mr. Ruddock has left a rather bitter taste in my mouth.

You don't say :p

There's a lot of it about, bit of an old boys club it seems. But give Kanchelskis a chance, he used to be great to watch I remember. If he has even half the skills and style he used to have in the big leagues, he might make quite an impact in Division 2.

On the other hand he might be a cash grabbing cnut.

I hope he does well for Brighton, even if that darned club only give a minute ticket allocation to away fans. I'd hate to see any club get taken for a ride by a player like Ruddock did with us.

We give a minute amount of tickets for away fans because ... have you seen our stadium?

yes I have, and I understand why completely and don't blame you. I'm disappointed we've not sold our away allocation for this weekend, but there should be quite a few of us descending on you on Saturday.

you a season ticket holder?

btw, I want to know. Is it possible to get from the ground to the seafront easily? I know the ground isn't in town, but how far away is it? I should get there about 12:30 and I fancy going for a pint by the seaside.

My ticket has a travel voucher thingy. I'm confused. How long does it take to walk? I only went to Brighton once before with my girlfriend and we got utterly lost. :/
