Till recently I'd lived there for 10 years m8.

Bradistan or Taliford is correct if you go to the wrong areas (as is much the same for most cities).

The main problem with racism in the city is Pakistani V [everyone else] - but in most areas that's not a problem.

Yes, in some areas asians outnumber the whites (mostly the inner city and studenty areas). The rest of the place (the outskirts - shipley etc...) can be really nice.

On the plus side:

FANTASTIC curry. Better than anywhere else in the country by far.

Good beer if you stay out of the town centre and away from the chain pubs. In fact GREAT beer

If you're not picky (and that way inclined) - it's the easiest city in the country to get laid (and that's official apparently.....!)

I moved to Bradford 2 years ago due to my job I can live anywhere as long as I am near a motorway, main line railway and an airport, so I choose Bradford as some of the areas around it are the most beautiful in the country, and the 'normal' people are the most friendly you can find. Problem as scouse says there are some areas (Mannigham for example) which are rough although they cant be even compared to the likes of Moss Side etc.

Great place but all depends on where you working / staying as it is a city of divides, as if you staying in some of the towns / villages that border to the North of Bradford e.g. Bingley or Saltaire then there are great pubs a plenty and some of the best restaurants in the country, although you will have to go into Bradford to get a great curry.

As for the centre the 'Student' pub area isn't bad, about the best student area I have seen it is full of chain pubs though but it has a good atmosphere on a night if you can stand the students. Rest of the centres pubs / clubs are largely to be ignored. Better really to go to Leeds for clubs as its only a 15 minute train/car journey.

Thanks. Not sure what hotel ill be put in, I wont get a choice. I might be there for as long as 2 months so hence my interest in finding out a bit about the place.

Yeah i seen that stuff too... On a First Aid course 2years ago or somethin, the instructor was an ex fireman and he showed us the video about how the smoke turned white... cant remember it much really...

Altho the piece that stuck out was that guy who was on fire running around "that poor poor man"
