imo easyest way i have found to get rid of it is to use scalars first. then pop som up and when scalars runs out u dont have eny shapechange

only on your screen you not shapechanges anymore, for others you are

When you do it in housing it says you can't summon here, as the shade form seems to be a summon effect. When you don't, game-mechanically, have the shapechange buff, you won't look like a shade to others. It might work the other way with Scalars -> SoM proc, but this way you indeed won't look like a shade. To prove this I tested it with a character on my other PC next to me and I didn't look like a shade
