Hi,

I have got a Spear which has got a bonus of 15%, does this means that it does 15% more damage or is it something else.

Thanks for your help

I read somewhere its just an indication of how many bonuses it has on it.

Sorry I can't be more definate than that, maybe someone knows for sure.

It increases the chance to hit with that weapon.
The higher level the weapon the better the bonus it can hold.

For armour the bonus increases the chance of completely negating a blow.

It is its bonus to hit.

And with armour, it's the bonus to absorb (shown as a miss, when something attacks you)

Both are offset by other bonus's too however, so it might not be a black and white 15% extra chance to hit figure.

For instance, a monster (or hibbie/albbie/middie) might have +10% resists to thrust damage, which if that particular spear causes thrust damage, will cancel out 10% of the 15% to hit... Therefore: 5% more chance to hit them in melee.

Then again, they might have -10% to thrust, in which case, you'll smack the hell out of them :)

Enchanting items (especially lovely high quality player made ones!) is always a good idea, just to get those nice useful bonus's on them.

Certain armour types are more resisiliant to certain weapons attacks (thrust/slash/blunt) too, which is also another factor.

Doesn't really answer your question with a single solid answer, but I hope you can see where I'm coming from :)

As said above,

But what i've always wondered about is the bonuses on non-weapon/armour items, such as what does the bonus % on higher level cloaks, rings, bracers and other forms on non hitting/hit recieving items do ? (apart from maybe wearing out slower which I read somewhere).

Just a few thoughts.

ALl items have level appropriate bonuses (cept a few odd which Mythic seems to have missed), AFAIK those bonuses don't actually do anything :)

I wondered about the bonus on jewellery etc.. and ran a few tests. I had a necklace that gave +4 dex and that a 10% bonus. My dex actually raised by 5 when I wore it. I suspect that the 1 extra came from 4*10%=0.4 which may be rounded up to 1.

Try it yourself, but I have sure noticed my stats raising by more that the delved amount on jewellery when a bonus is present.

You didn't play 1.36 then? :) Mythic upped the stat bonus on items with 50%, without updating the item info. Thusly, fully repaired an item stating it'll give you 4 str will give you 6, and so on (item will needs to be in decent conditon, and you can't go above your stat cap (duh :p)).

bonus on weapon is compared to bonus on armor, and then gives you the difference in bonus (or penalty) thats why high lvl crafted weapons kicks ass (besides the fact you can get a 100%qua ;)) because if you enchant it it gets 35% bonus on it. Thats higher than all armor, besides epic armor(thats a lvl50 quest in 1.49 ;))

The resistance bonus (slash/crush/theust/etc) affects your outputted dmg not your bonus on weapon.
