Bolt blocking bug

When I tried powerlvl some m8s with my lvl 50 eldritch (void) I found out that my second bolt gets blocked if this m8 stands besides me or slightly in front of me.
To stop the second bolt from being blocked he had to stand one step behind me.

Useless to say it was a melee-char and the mob was miles away when my second bolt hit it.

What is this issue about ?

Those bolts are really useless as long this stupid bug exists, seems like they are only usefull to solo.

as you know, bolt is a no no when in group, b/c bolt NEVER(almost) work when a target is in melee. you should report this to _mythic_ and see what they say, NOT goa

NOTE ON BOLTS

A quick note of explanation about bolt spells. As every "robe" caster knows, bolt spells are intended to hit targets that are not in combat. They do much more damage than direct damage spells, but they are usable only in certain situations. A bug was fixed in 1.52C which changes how the game determines if a player or monster is "in combat" - now to be truly flagged as in combat, you must actively be attacking someone (or something) else. Previously, large numbers of players would be flagged as "in combat" when they were in fact not actively engaging someone. So, theoretically, that change made bolts easier to use in RvR, although they still will not be usable in all situations.

this deals with RvR, but goes for PvE as well

All those poor Yankee casters thought their bolts were meant to be just extra-powerful longer-range DD's

Read on the VNBoards that the bolt bug is not fixed in 1.52, they even wonder if 1.52 changed anything for bolts...

Well, I think (from what I read) the message changed from "in melee" to "in combat" or something like that...

So expect this to last a while... :(

Blocking and groups:
If i solo, my bolts never get blocked by melee. In a group with 2 there is a chance that my 2. bolt gets blocked. This increases in a group with 3. Once did a 3 bolt caster group. 1. Bolt always hitted, 2. bolt got blocked about 30-50%.

There was a post on "the camelot Herald" that every member in ur group increase the chance to block.

It seems that if u run a 2 caster group, my 2.bolt get blocked most of time if the 2. caster cast a spell on the mob before my 2. bolt hits.

Which is utter crap since there's no melee'er near the mob and even worse, none in your group...

I often (now) just cast my spec bolt, and follow up by DD's, much safer, it'll cost 1 DD more, and its a bit worse on your power, but at least a DD hits or gets resisted... And doesnt get blocked (actual block), missed, melee 'combat' or resisted (since all can happen)...

If they ever get off their arses and this bug is fixed (since it is a bug), then a tri-bolt wizard (fire/earth) could be a very populair template...

(At stand-offs you can probably kill everything, if you can get 3 bolts off on that person)
