BMs- thrust,crush or sheild?

lo all

i'm thinking of doing a BM on hib.

i can't decide between these specs:

44 CD
44weapon
42 sheild
rest parry

50 CD
50 thrust
rest parry

50 CD
50 blunt
rest parry

50 weapon
50 sheild
rest parry

i heard blades sucks big time, but what spec do u think i should go for?

i'm going celt btw

This is what i'm speccing to on patch, am 44 44 44 atm, which works wonders PvE but aint so good RvR as fights don't often last long enough for high parry etc to pay off.

As a support/offensive tank you should concentrate on damage output as a priority, hence 50 wep. We're a duel wield class so CD is logic (again damage output as opposed to a shield) and the parry/evade you get should be enough to surfice.

With the bonus of SC, you'll be able to get parry to 48 anyways. Plenty enough in my opinion.

or at least 50 Pierce and divide rest between CD and parry as you see fit.

blunt is fine in 1v1 fights with the of parry stun. but imo isn't viable enough in group RvR, pierce owns support classes on the other hand.

blades isnt an option, with the current resist tables imo.

You can go high sheild and parry .. that coupled with evade III You would be hard to hit..

Well i'm an old blades faithfull..
Blademaster, does exactly what it says on the tin.
Besides, pierce looks gay and blunts is for thick skulled doofs, blades is by far the most sophisticated tool out there.

Sort of saying about the 27% absorbption of scale compared to the 19% dmg absorb of re-enforced which is best BMs can use.

Hmm could of sworn that Van used to brag about his evade 3 abilities as well, yet other day when I was considering rolling a BM and looking at what to take the character builder on daoc.catacombs.com said they only got evade 2 which put me off.....bloody liars!

I had 50 pierce, 42 shield, 36 parry, 16 CD, worked fine for me.

I respecced because I was bored of shield in the end, not because it was gimped.
Remember shield will be much more useful next patch, slambot+guard on a mage/healer=keeping your support alive and you can always switch to two weapons (although it's a bit tough in a battle tbh) and apply the dreaded prevent flight much more effectively

Play for fun, tehwin comes from playing it well

Remember the level 50 CD style will get a bit of love with the patch. Might be worth getting for the shield-less ones.

BM does get evade 3, catacombs is teh s00k

19% abs and slash resistant + advanced evade III > scale

i dont see why so many want high parry, that wont help your grp will it? good enemies dont gank the BM before the druid. go for dmg output / defensiv abilities imo :

Personally gonna be 50 pierce 50 CD 28 parry... and atleast pvp i seem to parry a lot more than evade... which kinda sucks since i love to use the diamondback when are they giving us style and 2 backups on one round?
