(No one reads the broadband forum, because it is tres lamé)

Dear trialist,

As a blueyonder 2Mb trialist, you have been enjoying download speeds that are 4x faster than BT, Freeserve and AOL Broadband for the past few weeks. We hope you agree that the extra speed has made a real difference to your Internet experience.

Unfortunately the trial has now come to an end, but we are pleased to announce the national launch of our 2Mb service today! So if you want to keep your blueyonder 2Mb service, you can upgrade online at http://fastest.blueyonder.co.uk for just £54.99 a month or (£50.00 a month if you subscribe to a Telewest phone line).
Anyone here thinking of paying £54.99 a month for 2Mb Blueyonder?

I was on the trial (duh!) but I seriously doubt I'm going to pay almost x2 for 2Mb. Seems to only be useful for periodic patch/software downloads, but not much use for anything else, including P2P.

I read the BB forum...

Well, unless I get it at a heavily discounted rate (I pay very little for the 1Mb as a staff member), I won't be going for it. If it was 2048/512 I'd take it, but 2048/256 would, as you say, only be occasionally useful. Like when I downloaded Planetside (beta, not n0rty). I don't find myself railing against the download speed too often, but uploading files is a pest at 256k.

I'm moving house in two weeks to share with a friend, we will get a full cable package. Phone, TV, Modem, 2Mb sounds like a nice plan.

512k is £25,
1Mb is £35,
2Mb is £50

Cause we are both using it, if he is downloading pr0n and I get lagged on Planetside its gonna get violent, hence 2Mb = win..

Unless it was 2mbit/1mbit then I wouldn't bother, although I'm not on blueyonder... I upgraded recently to 1mbit which is perfect, wish it was 512 upload tho :/

If i was on BY i wouldnt play 55 quid for a home connection, no way.

I pay 35 quid for NTL 1meg only because i can claim it back through work as my vpn runs on it.

Any downloads i need (including n0rty stuff) i can do at work on 10meg.

Snappy come back to the dutch international pie eaters response :)

I have Blueyonders 1mb service and I nearly upgraded but I can hardly justify the 1mb I have atm so I decided against it for the time being.

tbh, that price for 2mb cable is half the price of what i'm currently paying for 56k out here.

Consider yourself lucky!
