leeching ftw tbh, at the end of the day downloadble and storable media is better
I'd be interested to see how much better an original blu ray disc is over an 8-10gb MKV rip. The MKV's are pretty damn good so I expect the difference won't be huge.
As for br vs hddvd, I won't be buying a player until there's a decent dual format one at a reasonable price.
only got 3 blu rays, casino royale, ratatouile and pirates of the carribean all freebies
ive seen mkv rip of ratatouile both on me a sony bravia 42" lcd and my panny 42phd8, on the bravia the diff was not much noticable unless you got close on my ph8 plasma bluray does look much better.
and deebs i wasnt on about compressed films.

Even if/when i get a PS3 ill keep buying dvd's (not that i buy alot of movies anyway though) unless the price of the blu-ray discs go down significantly (to the dvd price range, at least, since they are also overpriced).
This is the main reason I prefer HD-DVD over Blu-Ray .... In-Movie Experiences.
I have Serenity, 300, V for Vendeta, Batman Begins and the Blade Runner Box set on HD-DVD and most of them offer some kind of extra experience over DVD and Blu-Ray.
At the moment Blu-Ray only offers a stunning picture and sound, but the same extras as you would find on a standard DVD. Now that Blu-Ray standard 1.2 is out and 2.0 is around the corner, how long will it be before studios that supported HD-DVD, re-release blu-ray films with the PiP extras they were offering on HD-DVD. Once that happens I'll make the switch, but till then I'll stick with HD-DVD for the great extras and Blu-Ray will only tempt me once in a while (In fact, I've had my PS3 for at least 4-5 months now and as yet, do not own one Blu-Ray film)
People keep going on about better interactive stuff with HD-DVD. Can someone tell me what it has extra that I might care about?
I can't think a time I bought a DVD/bluray for anything other than watching the main feature.
What use is PIP whilst watching a movie? I don't understand :S
well it will prolly end up like like multii angle features, very few movies used it, but it was major in pr0n, this will prolly be same, lesbo gang fest etc, possibllities might be good for those who luvs pr0n
