Fantastic. At last the format war is now on the way finishing. There is only one format and I am glad that my decision made a year ago to go Blu was the correct one.

Now time to save some pennies because I am going to need them!!

Deebs is one happy camper today :)

Yaka,

Sorry but I disagree. I would much rather have a 50gig movie to watch than the same one compressed to fuck to fit it in 8-15gig. Then work out how you store it, watch it, download it with just as much DRM.

Seems New Line have also gone Blu-Ray exclusive now. All it needs is for Universal to go the same way and it's all over. Then Microsoft will have to bring out a Bl-Ray player for the 360 ;)

I'd be interested to see how much better an original blu ray disc is over an 8-10gb MKV rip. The MKV's are pretty damn good so I expect the difference won't be huge.

As for br vs hddvd, I won't be buying a player until there's a decent dual format one at a reasonable price.

Even if/when i get a PS3 ill keep buying dvd's (not that i buy alot of movies anyway though) unless the price of the blu-ray discs go down significantly (to the dvd price range, at least, since they are also overpriced).

Yaka, if you were not talking about compressed films then you must be downloading upto 50gig in size films. Why? It is just madness with today's internet speeds. My time is worth more than me spending 15 quid on a Blu-ray disc, as is the impact to my internet speeds.

I am not ready to embrace the digital download era just yet. It is far from ready.

They already have some of the sales this christmas has been 2 for £20 3 for £25 getting more and more affordable.

If it was not for Transformers this war would be much closer to being finished but i think that was the biggest selling HD title. I wish it would come to blu ray i need megan fox in HD

This is the main reason I prefer HD-DVD over Blu-Ray .... In-Movie Experiences.

I have Serenity, 300, V for Vendeta, Batman Begins and the Blade Runner Box set on HD-DVD and most of them offer some kind of extra experience over DVD and Blu-Ray.

At the moment Blu-Ray only offers a stunning picture and sound, but the same extras as you would find on a standard DVD. Now that Blu-Ray standard 1.2 is out and 2.0 is around the corner, how long will it be before studios that supported HD-DVD, re-release blu-ray films with the PiP extras they were offering on HD-DVD. Once that happens I'll make the switch, but till then I'll stick with HD-DVD for the great extras and Blu-Ray will only tempt me once in a while (In fact, I've had my PS3 for at least 4-5 months now and as yet, do not own one Blu-Ray film)

3 for £25 where on earth did you see that? the only ones that have been about are 3 for the price of 2 with the cheapest blu-rays being £17.99 each which works out at £12 for each blu-ray which I don't mind but 3 for £25?

Or of course amazon.com bogof offer but then amazon put the price of both on the label instead of what you actually paid and you end up getting hit by customs :(

I think i am wierd in the fact that i have never watched extra features i keep all my dvds in wallets i throw the boxes away and i do not even keep the second disc :) Don't know why but i watch the film i never care about commentery ect :)

It was either play or Zavvi that had the deal before christmas the Blu Rays were shite though i ended up shopping in HMV's 3 for 2 instead

People keep going on about better interactive stuff with HD-DVD. Can someone tell me what it has extra that I might care about?

I can't think a time I bought a DVD/bluray for anything other than watching the main feature.

Likewise, I am only after the main feature. All the rest is immaterial to me.

its just like the wow factor dvds had when they popped up, this is just amped up for peeps that like that kinda stuff, blu ray has some java shizzle that does it and has only recently been finalised, and the ps3 is upgraded or will be upgraded
to inlude it via firmware

Yup, it irritates me when they go on about how many hours of extra features there are - I couldn't care less until they make some extra features that interest me :S

Most of them are so verrrrrrrry boring.

What use is PIP whilst watching a movie? I don't understand :S

Director commentary or something? No fucking idea. I don't want the director talking during my movie. It's bad enough going to the cinema with people talking, but in your own home? fuck that :D
