Seems that some of the telecoms companies in yanky land are helping the fight against file trading after some pressure from record companies...this beside the fact that they don't have any legal requirement to stop such transfers. However the last paragraph of a cut off customer sums up how to handle it

But try finding a new CM provider - you'd have to move house. Best bet is to phone the company, and demand supervisors up the chain untill you get turned on again.
Never heard of it happening in the UK, and hope I never do.

No because the last thing you want to do is stop people from file sharing when its one of the major reasons to get CM. Also it could end people going back to BT...shock horror.

Does anyone know where the UK stands on this legally now. Since Demon went to court over the Bulger identities,has that sent a precendent, and the ISP's count as phone companies, where they are not responsible, rather than publishers where they are - also, with Gnutella the data is not even stored on their systems anymore, taking them furthur out the loop.
