Just wondering ....

How many of the participants of the original Bloody Bledmeer are still here?

(The battle where Royal Bavarians and allies held off a huge number of mids lead by Nolby Pride for 8 hours straight).

I remember trying to get inside some times but hardly doable :) So I wasn't really inside the siege but nearby. Heared many stories though about it. I remember the battles with the corpse summoners :) That was some long term fighting too.

I'm still here and alive and kicking... I don't think I lasted the full duration of that one but I was definately there for a large part of it.

I remember one with cs' in jamtland which consisted of huge armies just pushing each other back to their respective keeps repeatedly for hours on end...

TBH those epic battles are some of my favourite moments in the entire game.

Its such a shame things like that cant happen more often.

Imagine if there were scheduled events e.g. on a certain date the realm that could hold the most keeps over a 5 hour period would get rewarded by increased gold drops for the following week.

I will dream on.

I think Belomar did a chronicle on the siege ...

I sure as hell remember me hammering away with a trebuchet and farming tons of RP from the poor defenceless middys ;)

(Thanks to Tomask, Wolfen and others putting cash in it and dragging stones [this was before i figured out to put the treb near the merchants DUH]).

I think I rather see an event as something I like to do no matter the cause or reward. Something that doesn't have a value that can be expressed into items or money. (not a flame just my opinion about legendary events).

I understand, but I think you missed my point. I enjoy playing in the epic battles and wouldn't need an incentive to do so.

However they are too few and far between for my liking, a way to change that could be to schedule dates and times and offer a reward.

Must say I miss some of the epic battles where people are just there to have fun and doesen't care (much :D ) about RP or anything else.

I must have died like a gazillion times at the Bloody Bledmeer battle as well as the Jamtlant Mountain battle mentioned ealier, but it was loads of fun.

But nostaliga is a thing of the past... these days it seems to be all about the RP and being "l337" so people play so narrowminded and don't care about much else.

Nothing fun in that, in my oppinion ... it is the grand scale of things I will remember, not who has/had RRX and got YYYY RP by "wtfpwn" (or what the current experision is) somebody else.

Uhhh yeah u were the one building the mid rams on the door .... at the excact spot my treb was aimed for hours upon hours ....

I almost felt bad killing you over and over without you having a chance to fire back ;)

Back to serious:
It seems to me that this kind of epic tales happen far too often these days (ofc my only knowledge is from reading these boards).

Those were the times when all the best warriors of all the realms knew each other.

So whats the difference from now and then? Why dont these things happen anymore?

my 5 cents:
There is something like 2 gazillion people roaming the frontiers, not just 2-4FG from each realm that were high enough level.

The attitude has changed.

As I see it - nowadays it is all about RP and being the "best" so to speak. That is why FOTM(Y) characters have such high playing rate.
"People" (some - many? proberly are) aren't willing to "being farmed" as we Midgards were at Bloody Bledmeer or as many were at the Jamtland Battle with the CS.
