So BlizzConn has been going on for about 2-3 hours now, and the major announcement thus far was for the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion.

I have heard about this being the expansion pack for the last week or so thanks to MMO-Champion, thre was a lot of "ifs and buts" regarding it but the new World of Warcraft [Literally] looks awesome.

One thing i have to say is: The DirectTV pay per view webstream is SHITE. SHITE SHITE SHITE. I'm constantly getting booted off it, or getting a lot of buffering etc, total waste of money thus far. It only happens to kick me off when something good is getting announced. Lame.

I think 85 levels makes partial sense at the moment, because of Blizzards plan that they want to release a lot more expansion packs before we get to level 99/100.

I think there was a list found a year or two ago which listed every expansion Blizzard wanted to do with Worldof Warcraft and the levels associated with that, thus far i think its working out as planned.

The list isnt actually completely accurate at the moment now, looks like a few things have been changed this for this upcoming expansion.

I dont think you can keep adding levels to a game almost every time you release an expansion. I realise it keeps the players happy as they get some new spells and get to do some quests, but what about the new players lol...

well, I think that's one of the main reasons they took the approach they have with this expansion. Instead of piling on new content for 78-85, they're re-doing the whole levelling experience in Azeroth. Every single zone will be changed in the old world, new quests, new everything. Combined with the changes they already made to levelling, it should make things a bit better. Especially as veterans will probably want to try some new characters to go through the changes aswell, so there might even be groups again!

Not sure if I'll give it a try yet, depends what I'm playing at the time. When I quit though, I said I wouldn't go back unless they revamped the whole 1-60 process, looks like that was already on the cards anyway.

as far as i've understood it its gonna be a more or less new 1 - 60 experience.

and quite possibly even more easy to level up. wich would be logical with the ever increasing level cap.

you know, i'm not sure about that. blizzard has shown that its possible to run 2 "realitys" on the same server. so it might just aswell mean that those without the expansion get the old stuff and those with it get the new.

god i hope i'm wrong but it is a possibility. and might be a pretty big carrot to buy the expansion.

Nope, they've already said once it occurs, it's for everyone. There's no going back to the old Azeroth after the cataclysm.
There's still lots in the expansion as exclusive content though, at least 6 new zones, maybe more if you factor in the new races starting zones. New secondary profession, new level cap and instances/raids. Also some new progression thing called Path of the Titans, which I haven't found much about, but looks like some kind of addition to talent points to further customise your character or something.
