Im building a blaster, gearing him for pvp when that arrives.

Thus I want to know which primary line packs the most powerfull (dmg-per-shot) ST DDs

Im doing lightning/energy atm, since I have nice lightning dds, a lightning root and the knockback and stun from my secondary.

Comments?

lightning does decent dmg and i expect the end drain will be a bitch to come up against in pvp

Energy or Lightning I think - energy has knockback which can be very handy, and lightning has that evil end drain.
That said fire has the highest overall damage, but a lot of that is AE.

I have an Electricity/Energy blaster. I do all right in PvE with the energy abilities keeping the villains away from me or unable to attack.

I wouldn't want to say what it would be like PvP, but I do all right with it. Ball Lightning is pretty good, and Static Field is handy up close.

I think it's safe to say, Blasters face a serious nerf when PvP comes around. It'd be silly in min-max you char based on how the abilities work before the first patch on the live servers. Things are gonna look very different by the time PvP gets here.

My damage at lvl 8 seems quite inferior to ice blasters :<

They have some nasty cone nuke that makes my ae look rediculous (AE DoT, yay...) :(

Yes, there are differences between different types of blasters. It would be boring if all had every feats drain endurance/dot/DD and so forth ;)

I've tried Ice/Ice blaster and I've loved him, he does shoot rather nice and indeed the cone DD can put some hurt in (as long as you manage to get mobs inside the narrow/short effect area). Esp I love the sounds of the effects, can hear the ice freezing and cracking :D

Oh, I have no usefull information. Play what you like :D

all blaster lines are basically the same, except for the secondary effect (slow for ice, dot for fire, knockback for energy, end. drain for electicity) except at what level you get your attacks (fire gets a targeted AE rather fast, while energy gets it's sniper blaster fairly soon) the only one who's slightly different is Ice, the only line that doesn't geta sniper attack (possibly due to the fact that it's already very powerfull due to its inane CC effect)

How does the spell damage work ?

Does a low level spell dealing moderate damage do little/somewhat/much less than a high level spell dealing moderate damage ?

Level of the spell doesn;t seem to have much affect - spell damage seems more to be keyed off your level.

Lets not call it spells... they're powers, and they're affected by your level, and the power ups you have in your slots....

only other thing that effects damage is if you're a sidekick, or buffed :)

Great, so my heavy damage lightning bolt will remain usefull later on, thats nice to know.

Since the only other mmorpg I've ever played besides CoH is DAoC, this kind of skill/power/whatever is new to me.

So your level and the 'delve' of the spell decides damage? najs :D

your level and whatever enhancements you put in determines the damage. its not like DAoC where you end up with about 10 'ice blasts' all of different strengths with the early ones being useless. youll use every power you pick throughout your career, none will ever become too weak to use.
