I wonder if there are old UO players in this server, how many etc...

I used to play Europa, Shadowlords faction with a mage called Ecavdra Uth Dar ( still active but a friend plays her for the last year)

Would be nice to know about old friend - enemies

I used to be Captain of the Deepwater guards on Europa, my name was Jearom.

I also played Rogosh Eagle-eye of the True Britanians faction.

Played on pacific, lake superior... and later on drachenfels.

Had to leave the game after 3 years of great gameplay though, since they were screwing it up too much ><.

myself and amster are old UO junkies from europa , we never really got into the pvp side , i was a money hound , at one point between myself and amster we had a castle and 2 large houses and 2 small houses that we let our guild use . we also had our own guild and many times GM chars , my fav of which was Ozric a mage tamer , had a long time nightmare pet but went though about 10 dragons a week . we where big time teasure hunters , nothing better than digging up them chests

sold up when i left and put a few million in gold in the bank , have thought about going back a few times just to see how the game changed , only thing i kept was some of the very best armour and weapon bits , silver katana of vanq etc . playing counter strike after leaving UO is what got me more into the pvp side of games .

still it was a great game i`ll look back at daoc one day the same as i look back on UO now

im noone special just played too much and enjoyed shiva, my t hunter the most

When I decided to quit I went to the bank and shouted "giving logcabin to a newbie" Suddenly there where about 200+ newbies at brit bank

Just heard this weekend they have "specials moves" now and armor with resists (fire, ice, energy,...)

Hehe funny how most UO players jumped to Mid in daoc ( a bunch of friends jumped to Merlin/Mid when daoc was launched)

At any rate UO has changed alot from what i hear, still the PvP facets are almost empty even in peaktime, so i guess whatever they try to do and enhance the game it will always be a shadow of the past where u could just kill anyone u fancied...(also clean loot and cut their bodies into pieces )

I played UO until AOS came in.

Played Europa, Strong faction hopper so I didnt really have a home but had most fun in CoM.

I played most shards at some stage or other (had an account for four years):

Hazel Journey, Damini Jaya, Krystal, and Ruby were some of my characters...

My brothers just started playing again, and I've been eyeing it up. Lots of new changes, necromancy, paladins, plant growing, new creatures, new weapons, new armour... In my opinion, UO is one of the few true MMORPGs. The rest are just wizard/warrior emulators.

UO is daoc in isometric tho these days, resist tables weapon styles 'enhancements' (spellcraft in effect)
and absolutely everywhere is camped at most times of the day ;/
even at 9am blood and poison ellies and destard was full of tamers or paladins
i still enjoy mining.. i think im the only one :>

The 3d in UO just suck's..I allways played in 2d mode...Hehe about the camping..when i quit..allmost 2 years ago..it was the same..and I was no better..I could move in on a spawn with 5 dragons/white wyrms and just rake in the loot..think I killed a million lich lords and ogre lords that way

Spiritwood and Deepwater were player run cities where u could meet ppl since UO didnt have a broadcast chat like daoc and both were outside guard zone so anyone could attack and kill anyone altho most tried to keep it civil

i was playing UO long time ago in Chessapeake US server.

main char was Whitewolf, was an archer from day 1 being raised in Destard at the times when it was full of Trolls , and Dragons didnt aggro to humans...

Was in a fantastic guild called Royal Guardians Guild.

blast from the past was camping Trinsic royal bank roof for hours and killing everyone that was trying to approach from enemy guilds.

We also had a spiritwood on Tram. We used it as a school to teach newbies. Had courses named after the virtues.
The valour course for example was the warrior class....

I had a few... but the best part of it were the first few months...

I remember the first few days, it was too laggy for me to kill anything, so i decided to become a thief... picked 49 snooping and 50 stealing and went to minoc, it seemed that mining was quiet popular in the first few months, minoc had lots of miners in the cave. The noobs (yes me too), were all clueless back then and they had no idea what happend when they looked into their backpack and realised all stuff was gone! Made some cash with that, went really fast...
I also found other creative ways of stealing things, like when a miner was dragging tons of ore to the forge again (if it didnt fit in your backpack you had to drag it over the ground, moving it square by square) and then when he reached the forge i took it and quickly melted the ore into ingots and ran off...
Didn't give me that much ingots but much enough to sell to a crafter, and after he made something out of it i stole the weapons back and ran ofcourse...
After while i learnedwhere the guardline was in the minoc mines: the zone where guards would come and where they wouldnt.
I stole people their stuff, they yelled "GUARDS" but nothing happend, so i walked 3 steps back into the guarded area and then they decided to attack me and I yelled "GUARDS" en whack! one dead miner with all loot for me

Was very funny actually

was a so called 'warrior' protecting the miners once, who said he would kick my ass if i got near the miners. So i ran over to some miner took a thing from his inv and ran back to the guardline

The other miners said "kill him!!, rape the fag!! kiss for who kills morchaoron"

So the 'brave' warrior ran over to me, hit me once and i yelled "GUARDS" and WHACK, warrior was dead, all miners who had been begging him to kill me swarmed to his corpse and took everything off him.

One minute later the warrior came back naked (literally) and said "come on guys please give me back my stuff i know you have it"
And everyone was like: .... no one replied...

Then the warrior started yelling "BUNCH OF MOTHER$%%## THATS SO LAME I HELPED YOU #$%$#$ BUTT$%@# SUCK MY %$##$ I HATE THIS $$@%ING GAME11" and logged

I was 'rolling on floor laughing' for minutes..... ill never forget... first time mmorpg and it ROCKED!!!!!

This all sounds very lame, but believe me everyone did it when they had the chance, it was a true pvp game

Played on Europa for 3 years or so,some of my characters names being Caliburn,Dether,Ug,Sgt Rock and being in the guild 'Friends of Yew'.
Was so much to do in the game,spent as much time crafting,fishing,stocking shop/rune library etc than killing.Would prob have gone back if not for the changes in the last expansion.
Also loved mining for some reason and the whole Deepwater/Spiritwood community etc before that devils spawn Trammel.

Morchaoron Ehhh the guards whacked the warrior after he attacked you..but you where grey after stealing and should be fair target.....you sure you aint making that bit up m8 ... Even if he waited until you turned blue to him..you would still be perma if im right

Damon?? when did you start playing??

In the beginning when you were grey and red up to 'dark lord' guards would come to help you, there were no 'criminal flags' or 'pk flags' yet what your talking about....

It worked different back then

You were blue, if you stole some stuff or pked you became grey (dastardly if im correct but not sure) and after that you became red (dark lord), you could only go up to dark lord with stealing, and you could still go into town and guards would help you if you yelled... but if you got any lower then dark lord (evil lord or dreadlord) then you would be KOS bij guards.
So stealing was fine, aslong as you dont do it in town, which doesnt include stealing something 1 hex away from the guardborder and then running into it. however attacking a thief that stole something outside town and attacking him inside town IS illegal.

Like i said they fucked the game up with their criminal flag karma bullshit etc...

AND NO IM NOT MAKING THIS UP

Hmm started about a month after the game was available here in Denmark..But then again the first month or 2 I was mostly fiddling around on diff servers before I settled down on Napa , So I didnt experiment that much with stealing and what the guards would do and what not.. I basicly ran around and got killed by mongbat's ...Kinda silly that they made it so that karma made no diff.. well except when you became dredlord the npc's would not have anything to do with you..only Murderes where KOS ... Ahh well the criminal flagging was not all bad..was what made some of the other tricks possoble like the one's I mentioned above ...So you didnt get flagged for stealing, only bad karma ?? , so the one you stole from had to kill you before you reached guard range or what ??? ?? Hmmm how early was this.. and when was it taken out..Cant have been in for that long..or I just dont remember..My miner hardly ever lost his ore..But that was maybe because he was also gm swordsman and carried a poisoned Hally...most peopel with enough stealing to be able to steal a hally would not bother with miners anyway and a whack with the poisoned hally from someone with 100 str was enough to send most thiefs running , as they never carried much equip due to the chance of loosing it...Ahhh the good old day's

Back then everyone was carrying their stuff with them, even miners cuz minoc had no bank and you couldnt put stuff in banks yet only money... and stealing was too easy just tag him and run 3 steps back in guardszone, it was quite impossible to get killed and poisoning sucked back then, even with high skill it did only 20 damage total or something...

The first few months there was no 'karma' and 'fame' as you know it...

only 'Notoriety' or something, you started out having it on 0 (you were blue then) if you performed evil acts like killing blue players, or blue npcs or stealing from them it got lower, at -20 (or something) you were grey, and it -40 <<(not sure but you get the picture) you were red, a dark lord, it would not go lower then then by stealing, but it would by player killing etc...

thats how it worked, there were no flags or that kind of shit, well the only flag there was was a invisible one, if you did something illegal in town you had a invisible guard flag on you and for 10 secs the guards could be called on you...

Also laughed my arse of by stealing everything off someone, and waiting 10 seconds, then dragging it in their tradescreen ;p

It had a very simple but nice system, then there came more and more rules, and now its just another EQ... trammel.... bah

Ohh well glad they changed it then..stealing is fun and all..but if there is no risk..there is no fun...Now Buc's Den that was a place of thief's and fun ) Been there as pk , thief , anti pk and just hanging around random whacking at peopel..nice spontaneous fun
