Actually it's dead because the game mechanics mean that characters are defined solely by death.

The game code allows characters to develop entirely and only in the context of what they can kill and how well and how fast they can do it. Character stats become little more than an accounting excercise.

This leaves very little room for imagination or creativity and explains why the vast majority of players have no flair, style or sense of humour.

PvP is just the next gimmick to keep the punters hooked, but again is only a development of the killing theme, is even an escalation of it.

I agree with Pudzy.. the game for me ain't dead... it's dead if you don't apprechiate your company with guildmates/realm/alliance etc. I'm having a ball on Prydwen/Hib, even though I test out Camlann as many others...=o)

Aye, i'd agree, it's far from dead. I played a little with the test PvP and while it was fun in small doses it wasn't something i could spend a great deal of time with.
I've also spoken to many other people who have no interest in switching servers other than from a small break now and again.

Your obviously grouping with the wrong people mate, doesn't matter if im on with main or alts, there are still people who demonstrate all these things, especially a sense of humour when i'm grouped or speaking with them and it's certainly a constant laugh in /gu otherwise i wouldn't be playing so much myself.

It's a great community and i'm sure it's already appreciated by everyone here

Lol dont any of you look at the American servers?

They released 2 PvP servers and they was packed and everyone said the other ones were dead, then a month on and Andred and Mordred were the quietest servers and now there thinking of putting them together as one just to keep them alive.

PvP is just a passing phase.

Well for me the game is almost certainly dead now, and wont be renewing subscription again on both accounts.

Played for the last 9 months and experienced most if not all of the content avaliable. PvP was the salvation of DAOC and would have kept me playing and subscribing for some time to come, but there poor implementation of the server makes it impossible to play.

The cutomer service which once was good, is now appauling.

Well, to be honest, I disagree with the "DAOC is dead" thing.. but if this topic proves anything.. its that the death of this game will not be to GOA, it will be to the hissy, stupid little flamewars people get into.. come on guys.
