Bit of a shock in work this morning...

When one girl rang in and resigned her job on the spot. She worked about 30ft from where I sit atm.

Nothing too shocking about that?

Not until you realise her mother is this woman...

Couldn't have happened to a nicer girl (her daughter Wendy - the blonde on the extreme right). Really chuffed for her. Just hope it doesn't ruin her life like it has so many others. Our office was buzzing all day.

:D

So she didn't even offer to take her colleagues out for a beer? :/

Not likely, as she and her family were put immediately into a safe house, in case the local paramilitaries came looking for a hefty "donation".

Bit sad it's got to be like that :(

She'll likely also have to move her family out of the country for the same reason.

mank!

So people actually do win the lottery? Fancy that, I'd begun to wonder if it was all a hoax.

You can't hide something like that. You tell your friends, family, your neighbours get wind, etc...

Holy crap. o_O
Been doing it since it first started and only ever won a tenner. :( I dread to think how much we've spent on it.

Precisely. With that sort of money you're hardly gonna continue living in a run down estate full of hoods are you? Even if you managed to keep it a secret.

I sure as hell wouldn't.

First purchase would be Alienware natch. ;)

I saw it on the news. I'm really pleased for the woman, and I hope she beats big C. My mum managed to, so I guess it's slightly more personal than most.

as to winning a large pile of dosh....I would not tell ANYONE. I'd try to be nice to my friends and relatives but my mum gets the most out of it. I'd arrange things so she would never have to worry about anything in her life ever again and could do whatever she wanted. Mumsy doesn't want much tbh, a trip to Santiago de Compostella (sp?), the ceiling of her flat repainted, that sort of thing. I suspect I'd have to press her to even go on holiday heh, but I'd let her know that the world was her oyster.
