System Spec:
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.0 GHz (Northwood 478)
Mainboard: MSI MS-7012
Physical Memory : 2560 MB DDR-SDRAM
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6200 256mb (AGP 8x)

My PC has developed a really weird problem that pretty much stops me from playing DAOC. I *think* it is gfix related. It only occurs in DAOC, i have played games such as Medieval TWII, Knights of the old Rep. 2, Civ 4 for the duration that it has been happening and they all run fine. Basically as soon as i login on any char (region name pops up, can see char, motd etc) either it freezes or i get various artefacting (sp). (sometimes looks like an oil slick, but mostly multicoloured stripes). Gfix card is a month old, but the weird thing is that daoc ran fine for the first three weeks that i had it. I have deleted drivers, reinstalled drivers that came with the card, uninstalled those drivers, installed drivers from Nvidia's site, installed drivers from back to front, forwards backwards. So basically drivers isnt the problem. It has to be something to do with daoc , but i really dont know what. Any help would be really really appreciated.

Does the card have a sensor that reports what temperature it is at ? DAoC hits the graphics system much harder than the other games you mentioned. If the cooler on the graphics card doesn't have good thermal contact, it could cause this.

OS is Windows XP home edition. It has 3 user accounts on it, but mine is the only one that has been used in the last year. The last thing i did was i stopped playing Knights of the Old Republic, quit to desktop, launched daoc.. Last virus check i did was with AVG about 2 weeks a go but i have since deleted it because it slowed everything down so much.

Hmm could be, i installed it carefully but i may not have earthed myself properly or something. Then againb i dont understand why it would work to begin with on daoc and still does on other reasonbly demanding games?

Its running between 48-50 degrees C which seems hot to me, but i dont know a lot about what temps it should run at. I assumed it was that hot because its fanless and only has a heatsink?

Bit more info: Tried it again a few times last night and sometimes after the artefacting the screen will go blank, then the monitor will go into e-save mode and show the msg no-signal, then PC will reboot itself.

Temperature is fine, what u should do is to delete everything on ur HD and reistall windows---or repair it. I had the same problem as u one week ago, and it was only Daoc related, I deleted everything on hd and reinstalled everything, and now its working just fine :) (might be a corupted file somewhere)

make sure the card is properly fitted into its slot, failing that, i would suspect the gfx card.
