as much as I hate necros, they have a cool concept, and they are a cool class, so when 1.62 comes I was thinking of rolling a necro and make a little gank-group with a handful of friends.

My question is as follows, any general necro tips would be appreciated, and if you can tell me some good specs for bg1 &bg3 that would be nice.

thinking of 23 ds, 6 pw and 2 rest.

ideas? thoughts? etc

Nothing special really, ive seen 3-4 necros (lvl 50) on pvp that dident know that.

Levels 20 to 24 can be done in a few hours in Avalon Isle at haunted appletrees (not spirit weak but that doesn't make much difference) then grey ghosts (you'll plough through these in no time for 22-24).

As for spec, go for 24 deathsight; really not worth minoring any specs until you get your mini-dings (if you go that far).

Oh and as someone already said, it's vital you practise the Facilitate Painworking ability; takes a bit of time to suss at first but when used correctly it's basically 6 second MoC usable every 30 seconds (enough to get a couple of casted taps in and a lifetap shout to round it off). Oh, and it also pisses you off mightily when you do it wrong and waste it.

I did levels 20-24 at the broken bridge in the plains, nice and easy to get to - group and camp bonus - very fast spawns, ok so at 23 they were getting blue but the level went really fast.

And the best bit of advice for a necro (im sure all others will agree) "Play it from L5, its going to take you those 19 levels to find ways around all the sodding BUGS in the class"

hehe, fanks sweets. I will be back on mid excal for a while atleast when the patch hits, I've got 2 lvl 50's with strong love to try out, and I need to see how teh la nurf pans out.

Ill have like a week or two from when I get home till school starts (this time its serious, really, it is!) so ill be frolicking in daoc, primarily mid&hib though, just wanted to make a lill bg-ganksquad with some friends here, dunno if it will actually happen

after school starts its gonna be like 3hrsish max on afternoons
I need to start getting educated

can't agree more with this , especially about FP pissing you off when you hit it at wrong time

First off, Deathsight wont do any wonder damage, but the Power tap and the "instant" lifetap sure is nice.

Gonna try to explain as good as I can how to use FP.
-Facilitate Painworking-
Ok.. I'll use Deathsight spec example as I hasnt tried the otherspecs.
One misstake that most people do is that they activate FP to soon, if you have an "active" lifetap in queue ( The <pet name> will cast the spell after his current action. next melee round ), if you hit FP with a queued Lifetap it will be activated immediate and you'll lose 1 PowerTap or maybe 2 in some cases.
What I do is this:
I make sure that I have 2 taps in queue and no more being casted, wait til the pet melee swing and release the lifetaps then I hit FP and Powertap, wait til the pet start to cast the Powertap ( and listen for the FP active sound ) then I hit Powertap again and hit LifeTap twice, if this is done correctly you 'll get 2 Powertaps off and 1 LifeTap going of at the second PowerTap to regain some of the lost HP during the FP downtime.

Thats how you get 2 of them in 1 FP, the things you need to remember is:
1) Never have queued spells when you hit FP
2) Always wait til just after a Melee round before you hit FP
3) Never use it if your on low HP, unless you also is lop.

I still fumble my FP sometimes and it's still as annoying.

And don't have pet on passive when using FP, it messes it up. Very easy to forget that it's on passive sometimes because it chases people at sprint speed and if you can't keep up you need to recall it (set to passive) before you drop out of shade form.

Oh 1 last thing I just remembered - theres a bug in necro spell queue'ing - if you have 2 in queue and cast a third spell it deletes spell one from queue (even though you already paid the mana cost) - spell 4 deletes spell 2 and so on.

So never spam the casting button for a spell as you can accidentally drain a whole bar of mana!!!
