BG Reaver - 100dex,100con,400hits,11flex/shield/parry

As my reaver's BG specced, I've been working on a new template (current one is banelord at the moment).

Any advice on items would be much appreciated. I'd ideally like to get the reaver epic legs in (heal proc) and winged helm (charge), but not overly bothered.

Requirements:

100 dex
100 con
400 hits
~75+ str
~75+ qui
11 Shield
11 Parry
~11 Flexible
~26% Melee resists
~26% Elemental resists
(Spirit/energy/matter not important)

Snakecharmers (abs charge)
SOM (ablative proc)
ML7 shield (large/heal proc)
Several heal procs if possible.

I really need the shield to be honest; obviously as this is a defense template it's quite important. I still fail to get hit by Energy/Spirit resists in RVR, even as a grapple-prone tank, so I fail to see the need to cap them.

Well, I'm quite happy with it, but obviously I would have liked to get in Winged Helm and/or epic legs for heal proc. However, could always bug Beeks to give me one or two Sidi procs :p

6.10 torso is obviously there for the heal proc, but the caps and stats on it fit really nicely into a BG reaver template.

And of course all the defensive skills are there; maximum block rate (and heal proc shield).

It's a shame I can't cap strength as well; would need uber rogs for that I think.

was talking about the body/cold and matter, unless u like being st rooted for 40s half a mile from your casters :)

+shield wont help much (if at all) vs bm/zerk, hence the suggested trade.

Well, body and cold aren't far off; but you're right - I'd prefer they were capped.

re: root - I do agree, but I'm prepared to make the trade of 16% in favour of the high hit points and defensive bonus.

re: dual-wield vs shield - again, that's correct. But instead of saying "you have a penalty against it, so drop shield" my thoughts are "i have a penalty against it, so UP shield as much as you physically can". The extra 5% or so blocking from the +11 shield, combined with 101 dex (+aug dex and MoB) should help a fair bit.

Every hit you can deflect is another few hundred Hp saved - the way I look at it.

Have tried fiddling these in. Problem is, removing slots for SCing causes issues - plus all dexcap items apart from the necklace have hits and hits cap on them, which is useful to have on items rather than in the SC.

If +AF works id suggest trying to get some in, alot of jewlery with like 10-20 af on them, and still with nice utility..

Can you give me examples of high util AF items? Never attempted to cap it so haven't a clue. Problem is; need the dex cap on the items - too much to cap to use up more SC parts with drops.

hmmm , was always woundering , if I was hit by lets say a 2handed hero for 100 dammage (its not a actual value as most hero's would hit harder) with my all my armor being mp Chain, how much would the actual 50 extra af decrease this by ? :)

And how much would a spec af charge help me ?

Just curious.

Imo heal procs arent worth it..Ive run with it on both stealthers and visibles(grp'd ofc) and its only stuff like 6.10(coz of UV) I'd consider using. They simply arent good enough....a 150-160heal does in no way make up for a 2-3 man MA train(+casters).

Resists > heal procs! Imo ofc ;)

Does look nice though :)

Also I'd drop 40-80 hps to get WH in..its simply too good to keep out.

items from Circle of 5 and azzerel have high AF bonus

Eggy, you can not build a template with 50 AF, two stats at 101 and two at ~75 and +11 shield and +11 parry, decent ToA utility/bonuses unless you gimp matter/energy/spirit totally. BOS weapons and Thanes with their energy DD procs on styles are getting popular, so I wouldn't do it.

I've spent like 12 hours in a row on building one and gave it up. It's way easier to build something more balanced with 20-30 AF and ~350 hits and good overall stats.

And you got Battler/Whip ABS Charge/Grapple and maybe a Warlord/someone snaring tanks near you when you get trained.

It's a good idea, but DS bracer has a lot of utility as well as the caps, which is really needed to cap everything.

Sounds nice, but ML7 large shield has great util and heal proc!

With winged helm - have highlighted changes in stats.

What do people think about the changes?

Edit: I didn't know WH was a 5 min long charge - thought it was 60sec? At 5mins, that's a must for a BGer then I guess!! I think the loss of parry is probably worth it for that.

Yeah I'd definatly go for that last template Eggy... the damage reduction is going to help you a lot more then 5 points in parry is ever going to.

Cheers - aye I think it'll be more useful.

Now I'm trying to get the resists a few % higher...and I want that 50 AF :)

I ran with 400hp and no WH and went to 360hp and WH on bg warr and a few resists jumped up/down 1-2% and WH is now Teh must have for my tank chars ;)

You wont regret using it.

Having marrros damage drop from 600 to 150 is really nice :worthy:
